Costco T-Mobile generally gives back tradein value back in visa/master gift card after a month or two. So it is easy for people who want pay upfront rather than waiting for credits over 2 years.

Has anyone went to the store to do the trade in instead of mailing the phone?

Iam on kickstarter plan and got pixel 6 for free after $25 monthly credit with trade in. Can I send any working phone for trade in? I got this offer on my Samsung galaxy s8, so do I need to send same galaxy s9?
Not sure. But when I setup for trade in. I had to be specific that I was trading a different phone that was not associated with the upgraded line. Gave them the IMEI of LG G8 for trade. The return info online is now correct. Otherwise they were going to use the current phone on the line as trade in. if they give me the $600 credit they stated I qualified for is still unknown.

So I attempted to do in-store trade-in today. What a disaster!

Made an appointment for 4PM today Nov 10th. Arrived early to Tmobile store a 3:30PM. All employees were busy with other customers as I expected. I browse around for 15 mins before an employee checked me in. Another 20 mins fly-by, everyone is still busy with other customers. Finally after about 40 mins, it was my turn. Employee asked me what he can do for me. I said, I wanted to do the in-store trade. He looked confused. Asked his supervisor if he knows what I was talking about. Both shrug shoulders. I told them this is the new Cross-channel in-store trade-in program that is starting today. They still look confused. Employee that was helping me said to give him a few minutes so he can check his communications channel. He went looking thru his iPad for a good 20 mins. Came back to tell me he can only do trade-in for the "Purple S9". I told him I don't want to do that trade yet, as I haven't received my Pixel 6 Pro yet. I did received the 2 Pixel 6 for the daughters and wanted to trade-in their Note 8. He said I can't do in-store trade on those because it doesn't exist on my account. WTF!! I got frustrated and said forget it I'll just mail-in the devices. What a freaking waste of time. Bunch of clueless idiots.

Is this tpr or corporate. If it's tpr, forget it, no one has time for you
Quote from jdpdata :
What the heck is tpr? I went to corporate store just outside the mall. If TMO is advertising this as a new service, they should trained all their employees properly before the launch date. No excuse for an employee not knowing what I was talking about. I even offered to show them the article. They didn't want to see it.
Quote from benanfisa1 :
Just wondering how do you know it's corporate. All TMobile stores aren't created equal. Some are managed by a company or some owner and others have to respond to headquarters if any issues occur.

Similar experience here as I attempted 4 stores: 2 had no clue and said I am better of doing it online (Thanks!). 1 store said they do not participate and the last store said they "heard" about this and said they would accept on the 8th and when I called on the 8the they said its pushed to the 10th.

Yesterday, while passing that last store I popped in to attempt to do this and 4 employees were trying to help me (were nice) but had no clue and asked me "can we get more background on the Cross-Channel conversation on what his is about".

After hanging out for 25 minutes they couldn't figure it out and suggested I attempt to come back on Friday and in the meantime printed for me the shipping label that was emailed already and gave me bubble wrap to mail it in if nothing else works.......

As always, Tmobile has no clue on how to handle promotions and things are all over the place. I even got an email indicating that their crappy Moxee Tablet is Free (bill credits) on an eligible line which means I do not need to add a freaking new line but NOPE no one can see this emailed offer and no one can do anything about this....

Game plan for today: Asking Twitter TForce to direct me to a store near me where they know how to handle "cross-channel in-store trade-in". TForce is awesome and has never failed me. Fingers crossed.

Would highly advise against this "deal". Traded a phone on line which imei was accepted, when reached the warehouse, the are saying "imei blocked". Cancelled the agreement and will return their poxel 6 which is not worth $600. They refuse to return the trade because this is in the agreement.
Overall bad experience.

This is why I want to do in-store trade-in. I want to be able to show an employee face-to-face that my trade-in devices are in mint pristine condition. I had several horrible trade-in experiences with Samsung. They denied my trades for bogus reasons. Had to do several phone calls to clear it up.

I agree...

Tmobile LOST my last trade in... and when I proved they received my device, they still stated that they need to verify the phone and that I could have sent them an empty box...

So they LOST my phone and refuse to give me any credit... and there was NOTHING I can do about it.

Two weeks later, HOURS and HOURS and HOURS dealing with customer service they give me a call and claim they found my phone and FINANLY gave me my credits.

THEN... ANOTHER TIME....
I call them up and said, where is my credit and they claimed that I NEVER SENT THEM MY PHONE (Daja Vu). I was PISSED!!!!!!! I told them that I was given a UPS label and sent it in and I might have deleted my emails... Tmobile said, they don't have any record of sending me any UPS labels and that they do not EVER use UPS and that I am wrong and that if I did not find the labels I would not get may phone credits. It took me about 45 minutes looking at old emails before I finally found it. AND THEN they hung up on me, I was called back immediately by a manager who apologized (I was livid!!!! border line INSANE by this point). And again I was told I have to wait a few weeks so they can verify the phones were in good order (EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD MY DAMN PHONES FOR OVER ONE MONHT!!!!).

My buddy sent a phone to AT&T, and they claimed the screen was broke... he claims it was not broken when he sent it to them.

WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO USE A STORE.

I may be crazy but I returned my TMobile order and kept my Google store order. Wanted to stay with Google for their warranty replacement and their insurance. I remember them being very good for people who bought directly. This way I am not tied to bill credits if I decide after a short time to jump ship from the P6Pro.

No, got the free return label and shipped. Was told no fee for online return but didn't ask about in store return.

SUCCESS with in-store trade-in today. Here's what I did.

- Got on Twitter TForce to ask which store near me is Corporate store and knows how to do "cross-channel device trade-in" Took TForce employee almost 1hr to figure it out as he had to call around to different stores.
-TForce told me to go to TMO store inside the mall close to me. It is a corporate store. They confirmed they know how to do this
-Made appt for TMobile store inside the mall
-Arrived to appt 30 mins early. Immediately was helped by store employee
-After a few minutes of head scratching, the figured out how to do the trade-in
-They inspected my trades and gave me a receipt
-I log-in into mytombile.com account to confirm trade-in was 'assessed and received' with today's date. They did tell me my Note 8 trade received one-time $31 offer + 24 mos bill credits of $23.71. Exactly as what described online.

TForce told me any stores should be able to do this. IMO, it depends on the luck of the draw of TMO employee you encounter is helpful or not. The TMO store I went to yesterday, those guys are probably tpr store, they didn't try very hard they didn't seem like they want to help me at all. Corporate store I went to today is much better. Employees are super nice and helpful. So call ahead and ask if store is Corporate store before you go. Use TForce, they're super helpful and will do the research for you. Good luck all with the trade-ins.
