This is $100 more than the EDU deal and you get the extended warranty and do not have to deal with Samsung direct. Much easier and Costco's return policy is great. This also takes you through Black Friday to return or get a Costco credit in case it drops even more.

The 85" is the only size of QN85 with a va panel like the QN90. It is unclear how this differs from a QN90. It is possibly a max of HDR 24 (2400 nits max) vs HDR (3200 nits max). I have not seen any testing to confirm this. I believe they maybe the same tv.

This doesn't appear to be the QN85A, it's the Q8. That's not the mini-LED version that's currently $2,999.

Does anyone know the contrast ratio of the 85" Q80a vs 85" Q70a?

That model number doesn't match standard Samsung ones. I wish this was QN90A.

Don't they usually have a different model number for the wholesale clubs?

The Q8 at Costco is the same model as the Q80/Q80A QLED. The Costco Q7 is the Q70/Q70A.

Per rtings.com Samsung Q80/Q80A page: "We tested the 55 inch Samsung Q80A (QN55Q80A) variant, and for the most part, we expect our review to be valid for the 65 inch (QN65Q80A) and the 75 inch (QN75Q80A) models in North America. The 50 inch and 85 inch variants are expected to have VA panels; if you have these models, let us know how they perform. The Samsung Q8 Series is sold at Costco, but only the 55 and 85 inch models are available."

The 85 inch QN85Q8DAAFXZA model (this model from Costco) supposedly has a VA panel so hopefully good contrast and it wont suffer from the drawbacks of the 55-inch ADS panel in the same line.

After shopping around for a few months now, putting in offers at Grn foot appendage, checking the AAFES exchange, Sam's Club, Best (Worst) Buy, BJ's, and of course here, I am just planning on pulling the trigger on this on 10/27 due to Costco's return policy in the event something comes out of nowhere that's better on or around Black Friday.

The way I see it, I'm not spending LG C1 money, but I'm getting the 85-inch size I want, and it's not a totally awful TV.

Yup, almost pulled the trigger but noticed it's the q80a which… meh @ 2499.
