I've been on/off this service for school/work reasons since it was called Cloud Drive or whatever it initially was. People kept saying "they're going to hook the sheeple and then jack the price up, just you watch" years upon years later.... price is still the same as back then.

The other thing people will do is say "well yeah but.. wait let me find something bad about it.. ah yeah it cant do _____." The reality is it does virtually everything and it does it extremely well and extremely reliable. There's even extensions that do all sorts of crazy things like automatically backing up Tweets or email pics from specific users or even cloning another one drive (for backup or if you're switching accounts entirely).

Even with the file size limitations, its huge. So yeah, it is really really cheap and yeah you do get the best office suite in the world and one more "yeah" .. yeah its actually that good of a deal even if you're on Mac/iOS, it works without flaw.

I highly recommend it!
This is a bit different in that: You get updates, You can install and use on up to 5 systems per user. You can use this on a variety of systems such as android, windows, macos, ios. You also get online storage.

The only reason for the file size limits is because they don't want people storing their "third party downloads"

I must have missed the boat a long time ago but I have a question.

Why do we have to pay every 15 months for a new license? What happened to buy one license and you own it forever?

My Microsoft Word, Excel, & others are from 2013 and work the same without having to pay for a subscription.

Microsoft went with a subscription service to make more money (aka greedy mofos). There still are perpetual licensed products. You just have to look.

you have both options...with this one you get the newer products without having to pay extra. With the other one, you keep it forever, but it's the "old" product

edit:

with this one you also have the option of using the online one. E.g. go to office.com and use world/power point, etc online...or you can install it locally.

Outside of the up to date apps the real reason for this is you get 6 users or 6tb of cloud storage for like $5 a month. There is no real equivalency out there from Dropbox, Google, apple, aws, etc that even come close to this pricing . Btw there are online office versions that you can use for free (slightly gimped) or Google Gapps which are much more modern and free and without virus and the like. which is also nice you can backup your phone photos and videos in original resolution all with the same or shadow accounts.

If I install this on a laptop that I end up selling, what happens?
Do I have to do anything to transfer the license to the new laptop owner?

It's tied to you. It's a subscription service not a perpetual license. So if you sell your laptop you go into your Microsoft account and deauth that laptop otherwise they can get onto your stuff. Hopefully you wipe your laptop first also.

Because megacorps and other businesses found out that they can make more money, and then never let you truly own the product by licensing it on a perpetual basis. That way they can do whatever they want, because you are just paying for the privilege to use the product/service as it is at that time. The days of buy once, keep forever are (sadly) going away.

The reason to get MS365 is for the cloud storage. What better options are there at this price level?

If I am using person A's email for Office license, but using my email for OneDrive to store stuff. Will person A can access my stuff? Or see what all I am doing? I am not using their storage?
