You're wrong about that. I bought this vest last year on clearance at a Columbia outlet for $79. It was $139 before clearance at the outlet, which is already cheaper than msrp. It's a really nice jacket, especially for this price.

Are we reading the same thing? It literally says in the first bullet point that it uses Thermarator synthetic insulation. And reviews are 4.6 out of 5 on REI and 4.8 on Columbia.

Did you read the reviews? More than half of the 5 stars are listed as "promotion" item. Then some of the 4 stars are too. Lots of them said not too warm.

Columbia claim Thermarator synthetic insulation (technology, heh), but never said what it is. Probably just polyester like all the other junk.

Ya. Most of those reviews were from Columbia when they do a sweepstakes to get people to submit reviews so they can get feedback. They don't have to be 5 star reviews, which majority of 3 and 4 star reviews are "promotion"

One Google search later and behold, I found what Thermarator is. It's bottom of their list so made for mild cold conditions.

Not being a troll, I live in Houston so I don't get much cold weather. But we recently found out we do like to ski, so I'm always looking for good cold weather stuff. What do you think would be worth a $160 cost for something like this?

Plenty of other options besides these expensive overprice crap. For something around $100 you would find bunch of decent stuff when it's on sale. Although this isn't the right time to get them (expensive).
