This is my first post so I am keeping it short. These are sold out everywhere but Gamestop has them back in stock right now with a 2 order limit. I just put in for two so I wanted to make sure anyone else who was looking could do the same! Hope it helps.
I'm not really familiar at all with Amiibos, but I recently picked up a Switch.
Am I reading GameStops's website correctly that we're paying $30 for a health upgrade and a missile upgrade in the game?
Yes, but they also look cool. So if you're not interested in the figures as display pieces, they're probably not worth it for you, because the in-game utility is limited.

imo youre paying $30 for the toy/collectable (i dont even open mine)
you can buy low cost packs of nfc cards online and write to them via nfc if your phone supports it. i have a whole pile of em and just use an old android phone that has nfc to write the bits to the cards (honestly it feels like magic every-time i do it, writing data wirelessly to a card that has no power. its just wizardry)
so no, if youre only after the game bonus, youre WAY better off buying nfc cards
Thanks! I really didn't want to give GameStop any of my money to get this.
Gamestop of today is not the same Gamestop of a year ago and before. It was sorta taken over by the guy who did Chewy and is starting to treat employees much better and is starting to be really nice to customers. only the same company in name only, imo.
I truly don't mean anything by this, but what is the appeal of a video game statuette for an adult?
Times are different. Being an adult doesn't mean you have to enjoy certain things. I'm 33 years old and I'd rather collect figures and trading cards than vintage coins or postage stamps.

The scalpers that were selling for $80? Yes, that's $50 overpriced.

Also, Gamestop has been on these Amiibos lately. First the Monster Hunter Rise, then Ridley, now this. I appreciate it!

Almost nobody buys amiibos for the functionality. They're usually bought by people looking for cool Nintendo collectibles at a fair price.

Collector's item. Many fetch double if not triple the MSRP on eBay. Especially if they are limited run.
