Not sure how this stacks up against the $20 box in specs, but I just got this to use infrequently in a home office. Runs Android TV and comes with a decent remote with TV control. Built in chromecast and powering off the USB port are big plus for me.

You know the 4k onn box can be powered by your tv USB port using a micro usb charging cable right?

The stick has slightly less RAM if I remember correctly and I remember reviews saying it was somewhat laggier than the 4k box. For only $5 more I would get the box. Although, I have the 4k box and it restarts at random and support is severely lacking on these devices. For anyone looking for a "smooth" experience I would highly recommend to look elsewhere.

This one doesn't even have USB OTG support. The 4K model is very hackable, see https://forum.xda-developers.com/...s.4313743/.

To do what? It already runs Android, you can sideload whatever you want.

there are instructions on how to "Hack" the android TV boxes too. I would guess if you want to use apps that are either unsupported by android TV or require root access, but I am just guessing.

Run a system update. That fixes it. I've owned one for a month with zero restarts ever.

Onn Box is way faster and snappier than any fire tv stick.

You don't need to hack it to run unsupported apps. It's Android, you can just sideload it.

Root apps would be a good example why you would want to hack it, but there's very few reasons you need root anymore.

I haven't had any issues since I bought it. There was an update that supposedly fixed those freezing problems.
