4.5 stars over 1300 reviews is considered "bad"?

Yes. "Some" are.
Are the thinking about the $100 Razer Universal Gaming Controller?
It also leaves access to the USB port on the controller, if you want to use the Stadia controller wired. If you're playing Stadia games, there's no point. Wireless is great, but connecting via wire let's you use the Stadia controller as a generic gamepad in other apps/games. It does not work on Gamepass cloud streaming on Android though. That app is picky about controllers, unfortunately.
It's also very easy to remove, which is nice. I've found some controller claws to be weirdly hard to get off, but this has a nice connecting mechanism that makes it very easy to attach and remove.
I don't really have much else to say. It works very well and it's a solid claw grip. It's not my favorite way to play games on mobile, and I'd pick the Razer Kishi or Backbone One over this any day of the week, but if you want to play games like this, it's a good grip and works well. I use it when playing Destiny 2 on Stadia, and it's great.

I have this controller and after removing the rubber bumpers it fits my s10+ with a case. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/raze...lsrc=aw.
This doesn't come with a cable, does it? Why am I failing to see any mention of this in the reviews?
I'll admit it, I laughed at this comment

Hotspot or cable should work
