Many people have an unrealistic view of battery powered devices. A corded vacuum can pull, 10-15A at 110V. That's approximately 1650W at maximum. I looked up a Dyson V6 animal battery pack, and it's rated at 21.6V 5000mAh. Assuming 100% of that power is accessible for the ease of math (it isn't, but let's say it is), that battery has a capacity of 108Wh. That means it could run at 1650W for around 4 minutes before being empty. Even at 1/4 that power (1/4 the power of a corded vacuum at maximum), it would be empty in 16 minutes running a little over 400W, and that's again, assuming 100% of the rated capacity is available, and that the full capacity is actually 5000mAh at 21.6V, and that is disregarding a degree of voltage depression as it drains, as well as capacity loss as it accumulates charge cycles and ages.

Even lithium ion batteries don't have the energy density to replace high current appliances in these form factors. In cars, they're more feasible because volume increases non linearly as bodies expand, and the weight can be managed (a sphere of twice the diameter actually has 8 times the volume, and will have 8 times the mass at the same density). Batteries aren't spheres, but I'm highlighting the general concept.
Went into Home Depot a while back to pick up a cordless one, saw this on clearance for 49$ so I decided to give it a shot figured I could return and get the more expensive one if I hated it but it's actually super good, has a powered foot so it drives itself and picks up really well. I bought for upstairs in my home so I'm not lugging my bigger kenmore up and down, works perfectly with an extra long cord, can get under beds and around things easy I don't even miss the cordless feature. Next time we go camping for a long trip I can take it along to vacuum the camper
While I completely agree with your point, I have found that the cheap cordless are way underpowered which negates the convenience for me.

I wonder how this HDSV19 is different than NES512:

Eureka website has exact same details for the two. I guess I'll return the nes512 and get this.

This looks like a stick attached to a dust buster. How good is this as a floor vacuum?

It's still corded which is unfortunate, I ordered a toppin cordless stick vac off Amazon for my wife for ~$70 which people say is a solid product.

Thanks got one. This will supplement my cordless Dyson when it often runs out of battery before the job is done.

Picked one up for low profile carpet and stairwell. Should do the trick.

I am sure that everyone buying this vacuum understands that this is a corded model. That cord kind of detracts from having one of these type vacuums. I purchased a cheap knock-off cordless vacuum from Amazon a few months ago to try these types of units. We enjoy using it even though it is very weak compared to our corded vacuum. That is not the point. You buy these for the convenience and freedom from having to plug them in, unplug them, etc. for each room.

I definitely recommend the technology ... just not a corded one. Just my 2 cents ...

Other than the color they seem exactly the same. There is a weight difference so the NES512 could be a newer, lighter model. Big difference in price..

People buy these because they have pets and don't want to lug a full sized vacuum onto the stairs, Just my nickel.
