ParkerGwen has retail price Epson 5050 at 2999.99 but first-time customers can use 10% off code and no sales tax. Their VIP points program will generate over 3000 points on this purchase after you share PG on social media, submit a review for the epson, etc... that you can turn in for another 150$ towards a mount, speaker stands, a screen, etc (second order later).

Overall a pretty great deal. They have other projectors too, take a look (but the reward points will scale with the purchase). Their 3800 is currently same price as BB but with additional benefits above.

Edit: note none of these mentioned are "True" 4k projectors though.. they are pixel shifters to 4k.

why the hard push for true 4k if a faux 4k with pixel shifting well outperforms the true 4k?

ex. even though some of the BenQ models offer trueHD and decent picture quality.. the Epson 5050UB (pixel shifting) is far superior. The Epson is many times twice the cost (around $3k). After the Epson in terms of quality.. you hop into the $5k+ range of JVC's, Sony's etc..

Ok. So I'm out of my depth on projectors I'm just thinking full res is always better but I dunno. I'm planning on getting a 100 inch screen and I want the best picture quality I can get within my budget. 5k I think is really pushing it but 3k is reasonable to me bc I still need to get my sound system and screen

SO at twice the price, just how much better is the 5050 vs The Epson 4010 at $1500 and about $1300 refurbished? It looks like the 4010 does the 4k pixel shifting as well. I see that the 5050 has about 400 more lumens, but at twice the $$ is it 2X better then the 4010? Thanks

If you haven't, check projectorreviews.com. Art has some excellent reviews including BenQ, Epson, and can help explain the differences taken by these different companies, I.e. 3LCD vs DLP.

There are only like 5 native 4k projectors, and they cost a lot more than $3,000.

Not a BF sale, but look into best Buy open boxes and you may find a steal. Many people got Sony 295 for less than 3k. i got mine at 3k but it had less than 40 hours on mine. It was at a low traffic store that most of the associates did not know how to fire up the projector so it was rarely ever used.

I bought that when it came out. I've been mostly happy with it. The biggest annoyance is that it doesn't support HDMI-CEC.
