Huge price drop on Amazon, usually it sells for three times the price.
  • No Drivers Required
  • The UCA202 works with your PC or Mac computer without the need for any setup or driver installation.
  • Powered via USB
  • Because the UCA202 is powered by the USB bus, no external power supply is needed. That's one more outlet for all your musical toys.
  • High-End Audio Quality
  • The UCA202 features high-resolution 48 kHz converters for high-end audio quality, and the additional S/PDIF optical output allows for direct digital conversion.
  • Tons of Free Software
  • Behringer provides a heap of free software available via download, to let you get the most out of your UAC202 right out of the box.

Why not? I currently own a Scarlett 2i4 which is a step up compared to your current setup but is considered overkill presuming your use case is for voiceovers during a stream or podcast. Just bear in mind that the max resolution for the UCA202 is 16-bit (depth) w/ a sample rate max of 48kHz.

For those of you looking to digitize your vinyl records, this is not the correct model to purchase as it does not have the ground connection. The correct model is the UFO202, which can also be purchased for $10 here: https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-...th=1&psc=1
Tip: if you don't know what it is, download the manual and read it before you buy.

Pro Tip: If you know what it is, download the manual and read it before you buy.

Product descriptions are firstmost, marketing. The truth is in the manual. Manuals are getting shorter and easier to read, and have more pictures and graphs then ever. They are usually a fast read. At worst you will learn a lot quick buy skimming through a complex purchase, like a synthesizer.

Here's the manual to this thing. Might as well post it for the rest:

bonus tip: train yourself to skip by the pages of 'warning' like you would ads when reading an article on a web page.
I'm a sports music programmer (DJ) for high school and college sporting events. I have two of these I have used for years in my kit and they have never failed me. I run a two laptop system with identical systems on each machine and use these as external sound cards for the laptops. They improve the sound quality over the internal sound cards in the laptops and prevent the hum and static that is sometimes created by the internal ones. Each one has a pair of RCA jacks in and out along with a volume controlled 3.5 headphone jack for pre-listing, troubleshooting, etc., and a digital out. I use RCA to full size phone jack cables directly into the mixer board. These allow you to get sound in or out of whatever you are hooking them to. I've also used them to record sound from the mixer back to the laptop for recording my announcer, for converting vinyl, tapes, etc to digital audio, and a host of other uses. They are deceptively light weight but built well.. Mine have been packed and unpacked for every game I've done for over 10 years and lugged from one venue to another and have held up well.

In for two.

If you insta-bought without knowing, it looks like you can use it to convert cassette tapes to MP3's…
if you are looking for a use for it!

The UCA202 has been around for at least 10 years. I bought an SMSL SD-793II 4 or 5 years ago and I'm currently using that connected to an old Pioneer SX-780 I rebuilt. I kind of doubt this would outperform the 793II (which is around $60), but as a cheap backup USB soundcard replacement this seems like a decent price. Heck, my sound card (which admittedly is just a glorified toslink output now) is a Xonar DX I've had for more than 12 years, so age really doesn't matter much.

If the UCA202 would strictly be used as an output DAC from a PC to decent amplified speakers, are there any better options out there in this price range?

How about as a DAC + Headphone Amp to basic low impedance headphones?

And finally, how is it as an input + output device for recording?

Thanks in advance.

I was trying to buy one of these in the pandemic and there was a six month wait. They were going for $90 on ebay. Was trying to connect a turntable to a Raspberry pi for a in house streaming music project.

Funny it's now a fire sale.

Also the Sweetwater people are awesome. Dude literally called every month or so to update me. Buy direct from them.
