I've been watching this saw off and on for year plus and only saw a sale at same place ACME about 1.5 months ago for a short period, same price sale. I almost purchased but decided on Rigid R4520 since price was too and I don't need as mobile a unit. O ya, this Bosch has free shipping, almost forgot this very important factoid.
If you buy just fyi if you need fence extensions or accessories or whatnot, they may be on sale as well. Ironic I'm posting this as I waited a year+ trying to find someone else posting.

I like the Bosch slightly better for the finish and function. The Skil's worm drive wins hands-down on torque and power, the Bosch is a direct drive. Think of the Bosch as a well thought out saw where things are in balance. The skil feels like they took a superior drive and engine and cut corners nearly everywhere else.
The Bosch has a slightly larger top and larger rip capacity. It was also easier for me to make jigs and attachments for. The usage of the Bosch (fence, extensions, blade tilt, blade tuning, was just better on the Bosch. The levers and wheels are just beefier and larger, the skil ones feel fragile by comparison. The Bosch fence has a nice beefy clamp with a decisive click when it locks into place. The Skil's fence (while it does have a micro adjust gear) just feels like you're tightening a vice. The Skil's chassis is more "open" which is good and bad, it's easier to get in there to clean or blow out sawdust, the Bosch you'd have to flip over to do that. On the flip side, this design keeps dust contained so if you add an optional dust bag, you'll have very little dust on the floor. The skil does have a dust channel with a vac adapter, which does a decent job.
One of my favorite adds was a drop-in router table that I made to fit into the table saw extension opening on the Bosch (Just some rectangular melamine cut to fit the opening with metal pins embedded in it, dropped into the extension perfectly.). Couldn't do that on the Skil because the table was so thin.

It's a great saw and my old 4000-09 has been great for most things (smokes when cutting hardwood or thicker stock). Love the fence as it's extremely accurate. Plus I have the out-feed and left support accessories already so was very tempted to get the new Bosch… Alas I ended up going with Skilsaw ($449 at Amazon) as I really need the portability of its stand as I do up and down the stairs a lot. Gonna be using my track saw for accuracy and breaking down sheet goods.
Owned this saw for years before going to a cabinet saw. The fence eventually was finicky and I needed to replace a little glide that must have worn down, but no other issues. If you look at magazine reviews this saw pretty much always wins their shootouts in this class. Never had issues with the motor. It has a soft start, which I would think would extend its longevity.

Agreed on struggling with hard woods. 1/2 hw was ok, but 3/4+ not ideal
