Tell your neighbor check his fridge model against the list of Samsung recalls. They're replacing ice makers all the way back to like 2010 for free with free installation

My neighbor has a Samsung fridge, and had to get this on the counter next to it for ice.
They love it, but note that the ice cubes are smaller than what used to come from the Samsung.

Ok price, on an ok machine…
My comment stems from owning a 1stBuild Opal, GE Opal, and now GE Profile Opal 2 - yes, I am a nugget ice snob.
In short, these are ok machines with some quirks: these can get loud and occasionally need a restart for random LED errors, they are otherwise excellent for what it is.
For $170 more, go with the GE Profile 2.0 with the expansion reservoir. It's $579 on sale at Best Buy. Yes, a significant jump but the price fixes most of the original issues…
Ona completely side note if budget is a factor Best Buy has their own brand nugget ice maker for $300-ish… I'd likely try it for my office machine soon

Thanks!
Samsung has been out a bunch of times, replacing the entire ice maker and control boards.
My neighbor gave up completely on it ever being repaired.

Do you have a link to this? i cant seem to find it on the Best Buy website
I bought one of the first gen ones from firstbuild and never had any problems. Love it, would almost buy a second. The app is useless, you need the side tank if you
like ice.

Watch the video about the squealing and noise this thing makes. You might reconsider after hearing how loud/obnoxious it is!

I'll tell them they are recalling the fridges.
