I bought in 2019 a desktop with 2080 Ti from this vendor with solid performance. Never had any issue and still goes strong. Chat with sales is available on their website during work hour, I also called them once in 2019 and had the impression they cared about their customers so I recommend this vendor from my limited experience. Their BF deal this year is disappointing to me in general, but I found this one may make sense for someone who looks for value and has a hard $1500 budget. Combined with other cashbacks may bring the price even sweeter.
Good Deal?

where ???

Edit: If you were referring to the Laptop you are solely mistaken. Don't get me wrong that's a great deal but the 3700 in there is much less than a desktop RTX 3700 (5888 vs 5120 CUDA cores) and that's way before you get into the power envelopes. The desktop 6700xt in this computer would be at least 20% faster.

It is so not.

The parts in an Alienware r12 are proprietary so have diminished resale value. (yes mem, cpu, drive are fungible but everything else is basically waste outside their ecosystem)

Skytech Gaming uses off the shelf retail parts that allow reuse if you were so inclined to do so.

I would also say the majority of people care about gaming. Miners are a fringe group so you should evaluate any deal with that in mind.
I could say the same to you. Only a subset of folks looking into the future to resale. Skytech Gaming uses off the shelf retail is meaningless to some folks too. See the point?!?

An appeal to common (minority) belief does not negate the logical valuation of the components.

Just a heads up, I've had a horrible experience with Skytech in getting straight answers on a computer I purchased in October. I've been told multiple times that it's shipped, only to find that it hadn't even been built and they didn't have the parts available. I told them they shouldn't be taking orders if they can't build the computer. I wound up with a customer service surpervisor who seemed to get things straightened out. But still no sign of the computer or any shipping update. I'd be careful here if you're looking to get something quickly.

Other than the MB being listed as a B550, there is no information about it on the website -- not even a photo of the back of the box. How many USB ports? What type of audio? SATA connectors?

No information? Not interested.
Got a Chronos RTX 3070/3700x build from them in February. Obviously no guarantee on what mobo it comes with but mine had a ASRock B550m/ac and Oloy 3200 memory fwiw.

I agree on the Lenovo. I just bought that one. With edu/id.me it $1,435 + tax. Then subtract the 12% cashback as soon as it is processed and it's a terrific deal!

With edu discount it's even better.

If it is indeed 75% of the value, I'm interested in buying one to mine. What's the payback time of 75%? If it's 3-5 years I'm in. Everything in my electronics arsenal is pushing 5+ years and none of them pay me back 75% of their initial value
Big update expected to come in Q1 or Q2 of next year and Ethereum(gives the best GPU profits) will no longer be mined. No clue what mining profits will look like on smaller coins after that happens but all bets are off on RoR/ROI at that point.

Realistically you would make $90/month running 24/7 or close to it for somewhere between 2 and 7 months(before the update). So $180 - $630 to subsidize your purchase price.

**Highly Speculative Part**

Depending on your Outlook on Crypto that $180 - $630 could multiply by some amount or decrease as well.

Also some people think GPUs will get dumped by miners after the update and be available at bargain basement prices(but there is also a chip shortage so who knows)

Cool, and I'm just letting you know that no one cares about the dumb mining thing, unless of course you're talking about it wiping out GPU supply or about it's immense environmental impact at a time when we absolutely need to be conserving resources rather than shredding through them.

I wonder how much Facebook uses in resources per day, more or less than mining? And that all goes in one person's pocket. Why is mining so terrible but the loss of productivity from social media is perfectly acceptable
