The ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q has a native 144Hz refresh rate that can be overclocked to 170Hz over a DisplayPort connection. G-SYNC only works over a DisplayPort connection, and over HDMI, the max refresh rate is 144Hz.
If only this monitor was Freesync, I like all the specs except for the lack of Freesync. pass!
Correct me if I'm wrong but every G-Sync "certified" monitor is actually a Freesync monitor that passed Nvidia's tests to make sure there are no issues using G-Sync on it. The only monitors that are G-Sync only will say with G-Sync module and those are few and far between.
Meh deal at best, you are pretty much paying the ROG tax at this point.
The MSI MAG274QRF QD version is also on sale for $30 less and better in almost all aspect. This is one of the best 27" 1440P 165/170hz monitor out there.
argh! another IPS 170 hz monitor with the controls in the rear. A pain to reach the controls in the rear of the monitor to change settings or change display input in a multi-monitor setup.
