These are great reels! I a 5500 and absolutely love it. Use it for surf fishing and jigging in the deep on my kayak.

Great price for the 4500 and 6500. I've been using a 5500 for a few years now and it's a beast. Holding up very well for the striper season in the northeast from the surf.

Just note at the 6500 size it's a manual bail..the auto bail trip as you turn the reel is only for 5500 and under.
I thought the manual bail wouldn't be a big deal so I originally got a 6500. However, since I've mainly fished fresh water with smaller reels for most my life, I ended up returning the 6500 because I just couldn't get used to the manual bail. I got the 5500 and am very happy. I don't think it ever accidentally tripped. The 4500 should still be a decent size and power.

What does manual bail mean? I go fishing on charter boats and I'd like to use a spinning rod to cast for yellows and bonito. I can't for the life of me cast with my conventional rod. Would this 6500 be good for that?

So 6500 without the auto bail is good? Now I just need a nice ugly stick or something to pair it with

Yes, this is exactly why I originally got the 6500 but when I was using it out on a jetty or the canal, I couldn't get used to it. That's just me. Maybe on a boat, it might be easier to be mindful to close the bail before reeling, but I never fish from a boat so idk.
Or if you're letting the bait sink first like jigs or high low rigs where there's a pause. But again, mine has never prematurely tripped on me that I can remember. I lose more lures from snagged wind knots on the rod than anything else.
Thanks for the link, makes me wonder if there's a way to improve or perhaps tighten the feature instead of removing it completely.

Would I be able to use this setup to catch some yellows and bonitos? I want to put on some 30 lb line and cast from a boat
