I have ordered quite a bit from Gruv lately. They do a great job and their sales are great. Highly recommended!
Carlitos way and Scarface can't wait to watch them in 4 k. Good deal op
I've seen a number of people bring up the concern of old movies being upgraded, but age has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of an upgrade. Technology is pretty awesome. There are no limits. The Thing looks absolutely amazing in 4K. The HDR makes it look like a new movie. Scarface looks great, too. Even a movie as old as The Ten Commandments looks fantastic in 4K. Some of the older movies are like watching a new movie, with the upgrade.
Then you have some brand new movies that look like trash, compared to the ones I just mentioned. Age doesn't matter one bit. It all comes down to what work they do on each movie. All 4K upgrades are not created equal. Your best bet, if you're not sure, is check sites like bluray.com. They review tons of 4K movies and tell you exactly what differences there are.

The flip side of that would be some of the old cartoons that I purchased where they injected some "stereo" sounds and it sounds out of place. I think that's what happened in the Transformers cartoons and maybe Robotech cartoons that I have. They plugged in some "special effects" but left the remaining audio intact, which sounds really mismatched.
I think I know what you're referring to in regards to Robotech and that annoys me as well. I like the intro of the original TV release and it's disappointing hearing the generic mix with other sound effects which ruins the original master peace. I am fine with the new art look but definitely disappointed with the audio.
I forgot which region on the blu-ray (released in 2012-14? ) where they did a fantastic remaster of the original, nothing was added nor removed. Images were clean with very minimal grain/noise effects. Someone uploaded episodes 1-6 on Youtube. I think many fans will be happy if they remastered that onto 4K, but no, instead we got a lazy, flashy blu-ray attempt.
I don't know if you are aware but there are AI software out there that people are experimenting with upscaling HD videos/movie clips to 4k and some look outstanding. You look them up and watch on YouTube. They are not perfect today but in 3+ years, I think the software will be smart enough along with advance computers to handle the workload to upscale an entire HD movie to 4k in less than...24hrs.
I'm on the fence about older movies that are converted. How much better can they be if the source material is old in the first place? I know that film is generally a better medium, but are these visibly better and not overly saturated like when they go and colorize black and white films?
Its all about whether the movie was captured on film. Film still captures more details than current Hollywood digital cameras, so as long as the film elements remain and are in good condition they can be used to create new masters.
Its also the reason why TV shows such as Home Improvement and The Drew Carey show haven't gotten updated for hi-def wide-screen entertainment, because instead of being shot on film they were shot on video so there is no hi-def source in existence.

lol, I guess you've been looking at the same Star Wars III scene where they're in their X-wing fighters. I turned that on once, but I still like the look of the Gemini Man with the Dolby Vision trailer that the store showed me when they sold me the TV. I think it's funny that I'm pretty much in the same position I was back in 2001 when I had a 1080i projection TV and the only thing I could watch to make the most of it was a Corvette paid programming infomercial. I remember when my family stopped by to see the set, and the only thing on HDNet at the time was a woman's power lifting. Watching large women squat lift in HD was kind of weird....

Gemini Man being shot at 120fps also makes it quite the oddity in modern cinema.
It's amazing to watch on a proper 4K Dolby Vision TV though, why not find somewhere to buy Gemini Man on disc if you enjoyed the trailer so much?
Damn. I placed 2 orders for almost $200 last night and there was no working code that I knew of. If I had waited half a day I would've saved $40. Very unslick
I'm probably too late in replying at this point, but you can cancel orders prior to them shipping. I've done that with a pre-order or two.

That's a great deal for cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks . . .
