Saw a similar deal back in October without free shipping from Woodpeckers. Ordered then and my order kept getting delayed. Right now until 12/24 Rockler has a 20% off on a single item that works on this and almost anything else, and free
Shipping on anything over $39.

A Miter gauge is more precise. Miter saws get you close. They also allow you to use a tool you already have rather than buying a whole new tool and setting it up. Really though it's just a different way to skin the same cat.

I hear terrific things about this, like almost all Incra tools. I'd buy it in a second if it weren't for a slight design conflict with Shopsmiths. Thumbs up.

Shopsmith owners, see link below. Most Incra table saw tools can be adapted to Shopsmith, but apparently this one would require more than most. Everyone else, enjoy!

Have the SE and love it. Great price. I've seen some complaints about the adjustments requiring a tool and I gotta say I prefer it this way. I believe it ships with a 12" ball head allen driver which makes moving the fence pretty easy. Tightening thumb screws would be difficult in some areas of the fence and the driver gives you more torque. Can't recommend this fence enough.

Already placed the order but now I am thinking maybe I should have picked the 1000HD?! Any advise on that? I am a hobbyist and not a professional wood worker. Trying to decide if I will ever need a 1 degree resolution. Is the HD worth the $35 difference?

Stick with the SE. You can use the vernier to dial in angles between positive stops.

Stick to SE. I bought the HD because Amazon was selling it for only $7 more than the SE. But I kind of regret it now. I am hobbyist too and I have only made 0 and 45 degrees cuts. The HD has so many detents it is hard on old eyes to line up the the desired degree marking. Also, a reviewer on Amazon mentioned the detent teeth are small and fragile (because there are too many on the HD), he damaged 2 of them when he bumped the miter in locked position. I have not done it yet but I can see his concern. If I had to do it again, I'd get the SE.

To the wood experts out there..... Why would you want this miter guide for your table saw when a sliding miter saw is already available ? What advantage or use does this offer that makes it worthwhile to have ? The only thing I could see is perhaps oversize things that won't fit on a sliding miter saw. Anything else?

A Miter gauge is more precise. Miter saws get you close. They also allow you to use a tool you already have rather than buying a whole new tool and setting it up. Really though it's just a different way to skin the same cat.
