Might as well have one of these since OT seems more interesting than the usual bickering over live vs. psn.

Now, who wants to talk about how LEET they are? -_-V

thumbing up my thread because I can.

Ok gotcha. Yeah that makes sense. I should have specified that it was a FLAT $55/mo, with nothing additional charged on top. Whether PP pays sales tax or not (which I'm sure they do) is not in my hands.
it must be built into the flat rate. that is really odd.

i'd still like to see your SS# and birth cert, for reasons.

pageplus does the same thing metro PCS does
its cost included in the flat rate.

they don't not pay taxes, they just charge you an all inclusive price including tax

similar to countries that have VAT, the price you see on the shelf is what you pay.

Didn't Cricket do that? I think that is the commercial I remember.

Leave it to American's to think it is a crazy concept to have the price on the shelf be the actual price you pay.

AT&T's latest $0.61 maintenance fee is just farking retarded...since they don't want to change from the rounded fees ($10 per phone, $30 for data) they are coming up with random fees at the bottom of the bill...so stupid but they get away with it/do it anyway.

you'd rather the price on the shelf inclusive of tax?
I mean dude you realize what VAT is right? They automatically add anywhere from 10%-23% to the cost of the item

Yes. I wish all prices everywhere were complete cost. I mean why not? It all comes out to be the exact same price out of my pocket anyway...And just because they tax the hell out of stuff over seas doesn't mean "included tax" pricing is automatically going to be astronomical! I always thought it was dumb as hell to have to pay for a bottle of pop + tax + deposit...

It is just asinine that a McDouble can cost $0.99 if I take it to go, $1.06 if I eat in their store, and $2 if I have to tip someone ( laugh out loud and Rolleyes2 ) Just say the damn thing costs $1.00 and be done with it.

I don't think there's anything stopping vendors from marking items with the post-tax price, but then they'd seem more expensive.

because each state/city/county sets their own sales tax rate.

In NY alone the state tax is 4%
NYC charges 4.875% sales tax
Long Island (nassau & suffolk) charge 4.625% sales tax
Albany charges 4%
Saratoga charges 3%

So unless you have a blanket sales rate for everything, its quite difficult to set a flat shelf price.

Also its soda, not pop.

Exactly....as I said... Leave it to American's to think it is a crazy concept to have the price on the shelf be the actual price you pay. We would much rather see that everything on the shelf is $1 then get up to the register and have to pay a 40% recycling fee, a 10% state sales tax, a 6% federal sales tax, a 12% city sales tax, a 32% recovery fee and a variable core deposit. Ohh, and remember to tip 18% if a stock boy helps you.

But...it's not.

If I buy a Coke for $1 in Long Island, the shelf tells me it is $1.05...If I buy it in Albany is is $1.04...as simple as that. If they want to have $1 on the shelf still to comfort all the stupid Americans...then the store has to eat the 5 or 4 cents!

If I'm from Albany why should I see it is $1, assume tax will make it $1.04, take my buck 0'four up to the counter and have the surprise penny tacked on because I forgot I was all of a sudden in (on?) Long Island (obviously I have no idea if they are close or not).

MA is? Or you wish it was? I've been thinking about moving my Xbox Live account to a tax free state for if I buy digital games...would save ~$5 each time. But I'd have to find the state first....haha

Spending so much time on military bases, it was an adjustment getting used to sales tax when I bought stuff off-base.

That would be so nice drool

I bet that is why Amazon really has thrived. (Obviously CS and cheap pricing helps) but their pricing structure is so easy. You spend over $25, the price you see is the price you pay...everything included.
