How do you all spend your Office Depot / Max rewards?

I have about $230 in expiring rewards in the next few weeks from batteries and recycling ink cartridges. I don't need anything and hate that I can't roll my rewards.

I was hoping to find someone that I could buy something for and get paid so I could get my $ back, but that likely isn't going to happen. My other thought was to buy and flip on ebay or FB Marketplace and item but if I have to return the item (assuming it doesn't sell) I am not sure how rewards are returned (if at all). If it went to a store credit, that would be fine. I can at least prolong my reward and eventually use.

My last thought was to just buy postage stamps. Maybe gift a roll or two and resell them on ebay as they seem to go for face value or close to it most of the time.

What are you thoughts and what do you do?

Thanks!

I will just bet forevers will be going up within a year. It's partly based on inflation.

Ebay fees are going to eat into whatever you sell. Count on at least 13% and you better get yourself tracking which means you'll be spending probably close to $5 for shipping (first class). Ebay is going to add on sales tax and charge you commission on that.

Then you've got the fraudsters who can claim you shorted them a book or two.

Finally you'll get a 1099 if your sales are over $600 including shipping and sales tax.

Good news is you can use your forevers to ship them.

PM any BB, Target, Amazon, Staples Item you like (fire sticks?). You could even buy anything and return it . They will give you a never expireing Merchindise card.. Seems to me they have a few laptops on clearance too in the stores.. I have $25 expiring this month and was thinking I would buy the 512gb WD sn550 for $43 just to have on hand incase I need one to help some one out.. They also have the 1tb sn550 for $85 or the SN750 1tb for $120..

spend on H&B, baby! jk

I'm in same boat but not as much as you - i usually look for things I regularly consume and hope they go on sale (water, coffee, early school supplies, etc).

Hopefully sale next week is good and has some stuff before expiration comes up...

I love their rewards. Seems to take a while to get them and I have frequent errors or missing points but they fairly compensate me for my time spent. Household cleaner, paper towels, TP. Etc. And use a coupon vs buying on sale items for deeper discounts. Just get on a chat and they have great customer service. They' can place an order for you with price match or sometimes a bit better!

I wasn't sure if I could use my rewards and return item to get rewards back on a store credit. I'm fine for that as typically, I would use for someone else on ink etc... but like you, I've got $31 expiring this month and the rest I guess next month. I think I will buy and return for the store credit. Thanks for reminding me of that suggestion.

The last time I ran in to that was just after the holidays and I had to return a fairly expensive Nest Thermostat. I got all of it in a "Merch card" and actually spent it about a year later on BF deals.. Just dont try to use it on anything you expect to earn rewards on. Merch cards do not qualify as out of pocket spending for the battery deals I am told..

Time will tell on this one. I actually bought a few hard drives and returned them to get the merch card. The downside is, I spent about $75 more than my rewards and the cashier put 100% of it back on a Merch card. I was a bit pissed to say the least but figured I would just let it roll. Last week I bought two more battery packs that are 100% free after reward. As of yesterday, they are still pending rewards, so I think they will be good to be paid out properly.
