I think they were looking for the security of a Chromebook which is basically bulletproof for older people or just want to do web things without worry.

Ended up returning it because of the black screen / freezing problem. Had high hopes with a $300 laptop lol.

My suggestion, if you need storage for extra data, you can buy a SD/microSD card 256GB for about 27$
I think I would still take the current HP laptop over this Dell laptop.
HP has 256gb (you'll run out of space real quick with 128gb), back-lit keyboard, it's 14" (smaller overall size) and 0.5 lbs lighter for more portability. Plus, the 2 years warranty with Costco. I don't know about the current HP model but last year's model came with a small 45w power brick (more like a power Lego comparing to my Lenovo 300 watts power brick).
My daughter's HP laptop has a second RAM slot that I added another 8gb to it that I bought from Ebay for $33.
Thinking of re-buying this laptop - I had the 4gb version and it kept crashing when I tried to add a 2.5" SATA 1TB SSD and I returned it.
The 5410 gets you:
- 2x the cores (the i3-1125G4 performs almost identically to i5 and i7 processors)
- 2x the SSD storage
- much nicer build quality (aluminum lid and keyboard deck)
- much lighter at 3.2 lbs
- full-service USB-C (that supports DisplayPort and power)
- about 40% higher battery capacity
- backlit keyboard
- fingerprint reader
I get it that some have limited budgets, but I'd do anything to stretch the budget $83 for all that.
