Display is very poor on this. All the models released in USA, having a 240-nits panel with 55% sRGB color gamut. This is very dim and almost impossible to use in outdoor, even at moderate sunlight or shadows.
Also, performance is over 20% to 30% lesser than what i7-11390 can provide due to very aggressive power limit throttling and the CPU is set to operate at 15W-25W range instead of the standard 35W TDP for this.
thanks for lookin out for usPeace
I got the i3-1125G4 version [dell.com] of the Inspiron 5410 for a family member. That one is around $470 (you can easily get another 10% off by signing up for Dell emails) and I think a much better value than this. (It has less RAM and SSD, but that's easily upgradable on this laptop.) The H-series i5 and i7 versions won't perform significantly faster (same 4 cores / 8 threads as the 1125G4). Even the i3 version runs quite warm, I think the H-series i5 and i7 will run even hotter, without much performance benefit. The integrated graphics will be faster, but not enough to really matter. Build quality and display are great for a <$500 laptop, not as impressive at the $700+ price. Battery life is decent on the i3 version (maybe 5-8 hours of normal use) but will surely be shorter with H-series processors.

Thanks. My last Yoga had a 250 nit panel and I found it to dim, even indoors under average lighting. So, nothing less than 300 (ideally 400+) for me. And they neutered the performance...pass.

I have this laptop, bought it on Bf, not a guru on screens, not that it matters for me lol, but the battery is decent, 3-4 hours usage is my estimation so far, but I'm doing office docs, browser, etc type work

The Dell Inspiron 5402 has PCIe 4.0 on the m.2 SSD slot. I wonder if this 5410 also has PCIe 4.0 on the m.2 SSD?

Very bad design. If you close the lid and use it with hub and monitor, the fan vents gets blocked by the bottom edge of the lid. Same bad design with vostro. You have to always use these laptops by keeping lid open.

Is that such a big deal? There is an option to disable the laptop monitor while docked.

Just to note: you do lose thunderbolt on the i3 and i5.

Thunderbolt is pretty overrated. The i3/i5 versions do have full-service USB-C with Power Delivery and DisplayPort. Thunderbolt's advantages are pretty much just eGPU and faster transfer speeds with pricey Thunderbolt drives, two very unlikely use cases for a <$500 laptop.

yes, very bad design. How the fans would cool the laptop if vents are blocked? Screen switchoff doesnt matter as heat is generated by the processor. If you keep laptop on for long period of time with vents blocked, it would crash the laptop.

Thanks. Feedback here is telling me at $700+, there are probably better options.
