Not a bad deal but seems you'd have to spend more money on upgrades to make it worthwhile- such as more RAM, bigger SSD, and an actual monitor, if you want to make it a decent gaming machine, which by that time might not make it really worthwhile. Not knocking it by any means, just my personal 2 cents.

Also only 8/256, both will require upgrades since games now weigh in at 100Gb+ and use more than 8gb or RAM (I think 8gb is minimum for windows with light tasks)

You can get $100 is bear food money on $930 version with Ti and 5800H, making it only $70 more, but much better performance. Also, historically P@W stacked with bear food CB, so can sweeten the deal a bit there

how does this compare to a dell xps 15 9560 in terms of gaming? I have the XPS and it throttles literally any game i throw at it.

If you are willing to pay $300 more, you'll find a better display. USB-C charging is impossible for a gaming laptop like this

XPS is built for business. the G15 is mainly gaming laptop series. with RTX 3050 you should be okay.

USB C charging won't be able to handle the power needs for RTX 3050 and ryzen 5 running a game or rendering a video.
