Is this better or equal with/than U8G Hisense ? Thoughts?
In terms of picture quality, the U8G will crush it. Better colors, better blacks, better brightness. LG has poor contrast and no local dimming. The LG will have wider viewing angles, cost less, and there is always the brand factor to consider (plus this is less than the U8G). Other plus on the LG is that IPS screens tend to have less motion blur and render text better when used as a monitor. So this has good potential usage as a really large business computer monitor.
Maybe it was just my luck, but I bought 3 of the 65" panels, and all 3 of them had defects/were problematic. 1st one had a stuck pixel that wouldn't get unstuck. 2nd one had god awful black uniformity and the 3rd one had a lot of backlight bleed. The bleed and blooming are normal for IPS/no local dimming, but it just wasn't great compared to other panels in the same price range.
How is this compared to the Sony X85J for $800? 65" versions
Sony. All day between these two displays. Mainly because of local dimming in the Sony. Check one out at a bestbuy or Circuit City (lol) or somewhere you can see it in action. ABT in Chicago area has all of these tv's side by side including OLED and the El Cheapo who-cares-I-just-need-a-tv brands.

I got the Sony as well, mostly because of the PS5.
