Is there a way to tell by serial number or anything on the label that this model now has a fixed HDMI 2.1 board?
If the board is still faulty, even if they say they will repair it, that repair process they have in place may still not be the best option when compared to the fully functioning HDMI 2.1 on Onkyo TX-NR6050.
Costco receivers go to "Product Not Found!" page when not in stock. Their page comes back up online again when Costco gets them back in stock.

Shipping was to Salt Lake City, Utah. From Buffalo it took about six days out. The unit was repaired and sent back to me the same day it was delivered. United Radio asked me a few questions before doing the repair, but it was a quick and painless process. It was another six days shipping to get back to me. Everything worked/works great with my XSX. Zero issues on my end with it plugged into my 7.1 system and my Sony X900H. I mean, the sound might take a few seconds to kick in when I start up my XSX from sleep, but that's about the only glitch I've noticed (if it even is one... it's so minor I don't care).
I don't know that there's a way to tell from the serial number if it has been fixed already, but I do know that when you load it up, if you use the display to show the firmware version, if there is a * by it, the repair has been done. United Radio did flash the latest firmware on it before sending back. I had no settings to backup (still fresh from factory), but they would have backed up and restored settings, too, if needed.
It was about as smooth as you could hope, and considering I was about as far away from Utah as you could get during the holiday rush, shipping time was more than reasonable. If you're closer you'll probably get it turned around even quicker, I imagine.
I'm not an audiophile. I replaced an older Yamaha system I had that couldn't do 4K and it works pretty much the same. I don't need to tweak things, it just needs to work, and it does for me. I hear the app is far more useful in setting things up than the on screen menus (which are slow and clunky), but I haven't bothered syncing my unit to my network, because if I ever need to update the firmware, I'll just use a USB.
I also only paid $320 for it in 2020 (which included a 5% non-member fee). I'd do it again for sure, because the price was more than worth it. Are there better units? Probably. But for the price I got it at and for my use case, I think it's worth it. I'd probably find it worth it at $440, too, but again, there may be "better" units at that price now, I don't know.
Last note: if you do need to ship it in for the repair, take everything out (e.g., remote). Make sure to take off the wireless antenna, too. I didn't realize they came off, so they asked me about them and they took them off and shipped it back. I'm not sure why they thought I might not want them back, but.. whatever. They came back and all is well.
The PS5 currently tops out at 32gbps when displaying 4k/120 HDR 4:2:2
The Xbox Series X tops out at 40gbps when displaying 4k/120 HDR 4:4:4
The Yamaha will not be able to handle the top bandwidth of these new consoles, each console will however downsample the chroma to 4:2:0 at 4k/120 HDR, so you will get 4k/120 in HDR with this box. Downsampling chroma is generally unnoticeable, but where it does make a difference is in background detail, where the downsampled video will have more blur and look softer. So if you have a fancy OLED and just bought a new console and want the best picture quality available, this receiver will be a weak link and you'll be getting a (slightly) worse picture than what the new systems are capable of outputting. It is pathetic 67W at 8 ohms for that Sony STR-DH790.
Beware of manufacturers advertising wattage values at 6 ohms.
Run when you see that - it's a trap!

If Yamaha themselves did not explicitly confirm an actual hardware change, the TSR-700 is still a raw deal compared to Onkyo.
Also, past models are past models: it would be nice to hear the difference in actual sound quality between 2022 Yamaha and 2022 Onkyo, all other things being equal.
If anyone comes across talk on sound comparisons, please post.

Repair headaches are not worth it even if repair process involves a full hardware swap, which was questionable in earlier posts on here.

For certain pass-through compatibility with: Xbox Series X, NVIDIA RTX30
From the time we launched several AV receivers in 2020, we stated that we would support emerging HDMI 2.1 capabilities – including pass-through of 4K/120Hz or 8K/60B – in these models via future updates. A hardware update is required on the above AV receivers only for customers who plan to connect Xbox Series X or NVIDIA RTX30 at 4K/120Hz or 8K/60B to these select AV receivers.
Please Note:
You will not need this HDMI board update unless you are planning to connect an Xbox Series X or an NVIDIA RTX30 video graphic card device at 4K/120Hz or 8K/60B signal transmission.
The HDMI board update keeps the specifications of your model's AV receiver the same - 4K/120AB, 8K/60B HDMI 2.1 (with firmware update) with up to 24Gbps on specified inputs will continue to be supported.
Above models manufactured later in 2021, are unaffected by the pass-through issue, requiring only a future firmware update to enable certain HDMI 2.1 capabilities.

Inflation at 7% makes sense its 10% higher now. Still probably the best you can get in the price range.

Im making a (maybe faulty) assumption that theres no way Costco would buy another run of these after the debacle the first time around with a billion returns unless yamaha was building them with proper boards.

• Costco Onkyo TX-NR6050 is a rebadged TX-NR6100, which is an $800 receiver. In other words, it costs 60% more than what Costco sells it as TX-NR6050.
If it was manufactured in last six months it probably has an updated board. Over at the AVS site on the forum dedicated to this model, some people who had bought RX-V6a recently said it had the updated board already installed. BTW, Andrew Robinson reviewed the RX-V6a last year on his YouTube channel said this was insane value for what you got.
If it's in-store and updated, Costco might see an onslaught of returns/exchanges flooding their stores LOL
