Here in Minnesota radon is an issue in many homes, even brand new ones. Don't assume if your house isn't old or leaky that you don't have radon present. We bought one of these after our mitigation unit was installed and it's great having peace of mind that is working. Purchased back in October of 2019 and originally batteries just the other day showed low battery indicator.
If you have a crawl space open to dirt, and your furnace is in that crawl space, and you live in the mountains, I recommend having one of these.
Check your local city or county health division for inexpensive kits (mail-in). The normal price in my county is $10 for 1 kit and they usually have it for $5 during Radon month Jan or Feb for the past few years. You follow the instructions to open the packet usually near your sump pump (in the basement) between 3-5 days. It comes with prepaid mailer to ship the test kit after testing is complete. They will email you the results usually within 5-10 days.
Example of my county sale price [knhome.org] (you have to pickup in person) for 2022.

You may be surprised that your home may have elevated Radon levels (that needs mitigation device) and your neighbor across the street has nearly undetectable Radon levels. i.e. do not rely on Radon levels of your neighbor to make assumption that you are also safe.

The real slick deal here is buying it, measuring the radon in the winter in the basement when it would theoretically be at its worst, i think, not a geologist...or damp, etc. and then returning it because those levels probably aren't going to change much over time. Or I think some libraries lend these things out.
Going to check the library thanks

Got one of these 5 or 6 years ago. Ended up using it seriously about 10 times. Before and after a mitigation system install at my house, and checking in different seasons, then at several friends and family homes.

But if it's just you and one property, go for the kits instead. Much slower with the mailing back and forth, but cheaper.

I'm in a zone 3 risk region (highest). I went from 36 before mitigation to 2 after. Absolute accuracy I didn't really care about, honestly. If it was 50% off, so what. If it reads 2 and I'm somewhere between 1.5 to 3, good to go, it's below the recommended limit of 4. Likewise on the high end. A 36 reading that means 25 to 45, good enough to know I need mitigation.

Recommended.

If you are going to do this just consider a charcoal test for like $15.

I have this Corentium device to keep an eye on things since our mitigation system was installed and it seems to work well as compared to third party tests that have been done.

Typical price is $130/140, this $99 price though has happened several times.

They're likely making headroom for their Airthings Wave Plus ($200~) that does Radon + CO2, VOC, Humidity, Temp, and Pressure.

My point is, there's no urgency on this price. If you don't get it today, set a deal alert and get it next $99 day.

Anyone have any experience regarding which one is more accurate, this or the RadonEye one:

Where would this even be necessary?

Search "radon map." Lot of the country has high ground radon emittance. Few places are totally immune, lots of places have almost guaranteed too much, and a good amount have maybe too much.

Deal looks good. Took some advice from this posts.

My public library and tool library did not have a radon test tool to borrow.
Looked at map, and Western WA is low risk - but has some risk.
Figure one day I'll purchase an one time Radon Test Kit.
WA Department on Health offers to send a limited amount of free kits to residents early. I went this route with a simple address form.

Thanks All

Requested a radon emissions analysis before got the new house - it was above the attention value of 4 4 but nowhere near the 35 value someone else mentioned. Was considering acquiring device to monitor it ourselves. Bought it today, although in retrospect that level is not necessarily bad - sellers were in their 80s and had lived almost their entire lives here, so there.
