Anyone have a good recommendation for a basic NAS device? Only need it for streaming hd quality content and music from Plex

You know it's a NAS drive, right? Super slow is you're using just one, stand-alone, in a PC. (don't ask me how I know this!)

Slow compared to what? I wouldn't use any HDD as a boot drive but the NAS destination means nothing speed wise in terms of mass storage drives.

I just bought 3 to replace my 6tb in my NAS. In 2018 I got 6tb for $190. These are faster, bigger and cheaper. Thank you!!!

Just a heads up the EFBX is noticeably louder than the EFAX it replaced in my experience.

Compared to a desktop or server drive, like a WD Blue.

I use an old i7 desktop and unraid. OpenMediaVault and Truenas are decent FOSS alternatives.

$22.50 is quite a mediocre price per gb.

Same here. I use unraid now, an i5 10th gen rtx 2060 gateway laptop and a few external docking stations for my extra HDDs storage. Beside for temps of my internal cache drive when writing I couldn't be happier.

If you're interested in unraid(the pro version does cost money though) Spaceinvader One and JuanMTech on YouTube provide some great step by step guides for different projects or setup.

Over $20/GB for a NAS drive isn't slick, sorry. Had to downvote.
