But I wouldn't swap these into an American Stratocaster unless you absolutely hate your current pickups. They won't have the vintage sparkle that you get on most of the fender us pickups.
You really have to spend some time dialing these pickups in to the correct height too. Even a slight height adjustment will really change your levels with these. The official fender spec for pickup height on the Texas specials is 3.6 mm on the Bass side and 2.4 mm on the treble side for all 3 pickups (measured while depressing the first fret). I found that if you get too far away from those measurements, you're going to have a bad time.
Isn't the pickup height determined by pressing the last fret (instead of the first fret)?
