What is inkvestment tank? Do you just by ink refill for the cartridge or you still have to buy ink cartridges

Got it, it's so hard to find any printers in stock right now at retail price it seems. This one lacks auto duplexing it seems so it's a pass anyway

It's seems to be a cross between cartridges and refills.

My mother has this printer. She doesn't print much but does make color copies of patterns and stuff every now and then (she said 10 copies a month, tops). Ink is completely gone in less than 6 months, and the replacement ink carts are $70 FREAKING DOLLARS. For a $100 printer. And so far I cannot find 3rd party compatible ink carts for LC404.... maybe because it's the newest model?

They are ink carts (4 piece) just like others... that "Inkvestment Tank" name is misleading, to make it sound like it's refillable.... it's not.

Cannot recommend any printer when the ink costs as much as the printer. I need to find an all in one that will take the cheap 3rd party carts. Suggestions?

edit - same price for ink on WM and Amz for the 4 pack. Crazy. I wish she hadn't picked this one.

Inkjet technology should be avoided like the plague. I know color laser is more expensive but it's 1000% worth it.

The issue is with laser, the ink is expensive and you cannot print photos if you ever need to. At least that is my understanding
