Exactly! I bought hisense u6g. Very good so far. In built roku so that is like added bonus of like $25

Genuine question: I always see these comparisons but does the rating take into factor the longevity? Like Samsung is a household name, should I put weight on that or are they all pretty much the same.

I hate to be That Guy, but only 2 HDMI.

I just started using an HDMI switch (3-to-1) and it reminds me of the old days of TVs having a single A/V input but multiple devices. Switches were the only option in the 80s and early 90s if you had an NES and a Genesis, for example.

Well unless you wanted to use the coax like some sort of troglodyte! Big Grin

Samsung is not the company it once was regarding product quality and longevity. They're excellent marketers, but the product quality has taken a hit.

It has been some years since i stopped giving much value to brands. I bought my 50" 4k TCL Roku TV for $300 or so in 2018 (not a well known brand back then). Still going well. Correlated well to rtings review and rating.
Also HiSense tv has 3yr manufacture warranty as well. So, for $400, if this can live for 3yrs, i think that is a good deal in my view.

Funny you say this because 15 years ago folks said the exact same thing about Samsung, and 15 years before that they said it about Sony. New companies enter and they need to innovate and make better products for cheaper than their competition to make a name for themselves. Once they have done so, they no longer need to so their products stagnate and increase in price, but folks that buy simply on brand alone don't care, they keep buying blissfully unaware that there is something better out there.

If you were to look at them side by side not knowing the brand, the Hisense would blow the Samsung out of the water. It isn't some random company, it is the biggest TV maker in China and one of the biggest in the world. Would rather suffer with a higher priced lower quality TV that ultimately was probably still made in China?

I have both Samsung and Hisense. U6G is a superior TV and built in Roku is seamless. Bought it around holiday time and it's been great so far. And not to mention Costco's additional warranty.

Exactly, I brought one for my roomie and it is great so far. The only concern I have with Hisense is the longevity. Better get one from Costco with 3 year warranty.

In my view, the hardware/software will be irrelevant before the tv goes bad. The Hisense comes with a 3 year warranty. If it lasts that long it will likely last at least 6 years. The Sammy is already outdated in my view, NO voice control, etc.... So you'd be happy to see it gone in 3 years given it's underwhelming performance in 3 years when compared to any other new tv...... If it's a guest room tv for the grand parents, go with the Sammy, if it's your main viewing TV go with the Hisense...... At least that's how I'd look at it. As the main viewer, you'd be much more impressed looking at the Hisense's picture then trying to be impressed with the Samsung's placard at the bottom.

Make sure you've secured them in your house to compare. I have a sneaky feeling what you see on the showroom floor can be a much different experience considering Sammy's selling tactics.

I disagree with Rting's build quality rating them both a 7. In my view, the Hisense's enclosure, especially the rear view looks much more ridged and therefore more durable. There's absolutely no way Id's take the Sammy over Hisense.
