Brake Pad Warranty?

180 178 September 17, 2009 at 09:36 AM
Hi everyone,
Last week i got Wagner brake pads for our mini van from advanced auto since they didn't carry bendix (which is what I usually get). The Wagner brakes come with a lifetime warranty and I was wondering if it is like bendix's program in which you can return your old set once for free. Also, would that apply to all of AA's brakes (like wearever). I am a little confused and was wondering if someone could shine some light on this.
Thanks

I've never tried to use any of these brake pad warranties I have to wonder how hard they make it to use, since the pads don't wear evenly, etc.

I have not bought any brake pads from Advance Auto, but I bought some from Carquest with lifetime warranty and have already replaced them 4 times under warranty with no additional cost. It would be a load of BS if they call it lifetime warranty and then only let you get one new set when they wear out. Honestly I don't know how any place can put a lifetime warranty on a wear item like brake pads, it just doesn't make any sense, but hey I'll take it especially with how quick my car eats through brakes.

oh thats good news! What kind of brakes did you get from carquest? These say limited life time warranty so i thought that would mean a one time replacement... Any idea?

Thanks

I bought the Carquest brand ceramic pads for my car, I don't think there were any other brand choices. I don't know what Advance Auto's definition of limited lifetime warranty is, you could call them and ask. This is the first I have heard of a limited lifetime warranty only being able to be used once.

One more thing, at least for one of my cars, someone reported that the CarQuest pads had a larger contract surface area than the pads sold at cheap places like Autozone.

Same at Midas, you get free pads. But labor to put them in is not free.

bulb save money by checking your insurance every 2 years (and not every 20) Thanks Liberty Mutual for reminding me to shop. The $842 increase this year sums it up. Across the board increase for Ohio....whatever

update:, I called advance auto parts up and said that i had these limited life time replacement brakes and asked if they do replacements. They told me they will only do it if something is wrong with the brakes.. which is what i was scared they would say before. I'm really confused.. has anyone gotten a replacement from aap before?
thanks

My 1995 Ford Escort has 184,000 miles on it, and I bought it new. I've replaced the front brake pads a few times. Never tired to get ones with a warranty or use any warranty. Pads for an Escort are so inexpensive I wouldn't bother trying to deal with them trying to reject my return based on some aribtrary nonsense.

Brake Pads are a WEAR item...so unless the factory fracked them up, pretty much when they wear away from you putting your foot on the brake pedal, you have to spend $ on new pads.
