The solution to the fingerprint issue is to add your fingerprint a bunch of times and it works much better. I added my thumbprint 4 times and now it works well

Trying to make sense to why Google Fi can offer $500 discount on a Samsung phone, but only $200 off a device made by Google.

No google photos unlimited space in reduced quality though.
Bad fingerprints design.
Ugly Android 12 design.
Pricy Fi plans.
For $399? A deal?
Would grab one at $99 or free with a 4a5g trade in.

With software update they made it worse for pixel 6 owners. I think it's more of hardware issue. I'm using a pixel 6 and I'm living with it. Even slightest amount of wetness in hands would break the fingerprint scanner. It is still 60% unlock rate for me. I'm just using pattern lock in 2022 lol
Serious question here, why would anyone use a finger print reader when Apple basically uses the best "Face ID" in a cellphone in existence.

After they ditched the prehistoric finger print reader the Face ID is the best feature ever, it's literally not a problem for anyone.

I own a 12 Max Pro, even in a 100% complete dark room the light from the screen will recognize and unlock your phone instantly

Less secure that a fingerprint sensor, by a long shot.

Still, Face ID has shown issues at separating identical twins. Multiple security features largely limit the risk of the system being bypassed using photos or masks, and only one proof-of-concept attempt using detailed scans has succeeded. Debate continues over the lack of legal protections offered by biometric systems as compared to passcode authentication in the United States. Privacy advocates have also expressed concern about third-party app developers' access to "rough maps" of user facial data, despite rigid requirements by Apple of how developers handle facial data.

That said Google tried soli in P4XL and there are entry points being defined in latest Android release for p6 and p6xl to use face unlock. If you can use a rooted pixel 6, you can get face unlock added to your device. It uses camera so I don't think it's safest as you can fool it with picture.

This discount upsets me after paying nearly full price directly FROM GOOGLE (not a carrier) but I love my Pixel 6 and I don't have any issues with the fingerprint reader except for the long scan time. But this seems like a truly first world problem to me. An extra 300ms for my phone to unlock? Do we have nothing else to complain about?
Google should have stuck with the rear finger print reader. tried, true, and consistent... why fix what already works so well?

I'm assuming the status quo of other phones forced their hands a bit when it came to the fingerprint reader, both from a software and hardware sourcing issue. I've had the 6 since launch, the print reader is definitely less than ideal. Since it is on the front of the phone, for me the lighting (being outside vs inside) definitely affects the feature for me as well. All that said, still a good deal on a decently valued service.

Fair warning. These phones may not be compatible with Verizon networks should you decide to change carriers later. At least that is what is happening with my 5a.

I've been using the phone for almost 6 months.

Pros
A+++ camera. Night pictures are A+++.
Screen is beautiful. One camera hole cutout.
Speedy
Excellent performance

Cons
Camera bump is stupid, and stupid huge. You better put your phone in your pocket with the charge port facing down. Why? If you put any cards in your pocket and the charge port is facing up, those cards are coming out with the phone.
Heavy phone.
Battery is crap compared to iPhone.
Won't work with some chargers (e.g. OnePlus).
Fast charge is not good. It goes fast to 50% then slows down.
Audio is not as good as other phones. My old OnePlus 6 sounds better.
5g sucks. I get better connection stability on LTE (and better battery life). I always leave it on LTE.

Pretty crappy that companies don't reward loyal customers with these types of deals.

Just know that next time you don't get any deals.
Because Google now never gives discounts to existing customers.
Yup... I'm still rocking a P3XL from when they offered them to existing Fi members at half price. Still waiting for another good deal... Will probably jump ship soon because I don't think it's coming
