For $25 you can go from a 350w to 500w power supply, seems worth it.

And for $10 you can upgrade the Wifi/BT card.

Thanks for posting this. I missed that Walmart $699 deal and i think this pc might be better and cheaper. Granted the other one had a better case but I'm fine with saving another $100 and getting a better graphics card and processor... no plans to every upgrade this in the far future at this price! Maybe better ram

I really want to get this - my current desktop is 5-6 years old and there are some low-mid end video games that I really want to play (Orcs must Die 3, Diablo II remaster... nothing too graphically intense at all) and I don't see the value in spending $1000+ on a gaming rig any more. With the .edu discount the 3060ti version of this seems like a really great deal.

But 1 month lead time worries me. One of the only reviews I could find for a Victus computer on HP website was 1 star and the guy said that 2 days before his estimated ship date they delayed his order by another month and when he tried to cancel they told him he couldn't because it was "in process" - I really don't want to spend $800 and have nothing for 1-2+ months while prices continue to fall around me.

Anyone have any experience buying one of these on how accurate the estimated ship date is?

changed out the specs to the Ryzen 7, 3060ti, upgraded PSU, upgraded Wireless chip which all together came out to 1014. which doesn't see, too horrible given the specs...just wish it wasn't proprietary mobo and bad thermals..

Depends on what you value and your use case. The CPUs perform pretty similarly in most benchmarks with the Ryzen performing a little better, but you probably won't notice it in daily use. If you value a longer warranty and more storage space, then go for the Costco deal. If you want to play games without immediately buying a separate GPU, then the HP would be better. Both would perform well in day to day stuff, especially if you add more ram.
Get the costco deal for office use? multi-taskings, word, speadsheets email and etc.

Either PC will perform well with what you've described. Adding more ram would be the greater determining factor to help with multi-tasking and general office use. My work PC had 8GB ram, but when I added another 8GB for a total of 16GB, I saw significant improvement with being able to run multiple apps or browser tabs. Again, all things being equal from that standpoint, do you value being able to play games out of the box? Or would you rather have peace of mind from a Costco 2 year extended warranty?

I would go for the HP deal, but I like playing games and running console emulators. I'm also not averse to replacing or upgrading components when necessary.

That's great if you don't mind refurbished and if you live near a Microcenter. If you don't mind refurbished, then I'd keep tabs on this deal to return:

https://slickdeals.net/f/15751309-acer-aspire-xc-refurb-desktop-intel-core-i5-11400-2-60ghz-8gb-ram-512gb-ssd-w10h-299-19-at-acer-via-ebay?src=SiteSearch

Edit: Forgot to mention the eBay deal would've included a 2 year warranty. Definitely go for that if it comes back in stock.

Damn, the 5GRADHP code was working when using .edu account before but now it no longer is. Almost the same price with .edu as it is without .edu and the coupon now. Anyone have any guesses on whether I would find a better deal, or at least a similar deal on a more upgradeable PC any time soon? The graphics card on my current rig took a crap like a year ago and I've been using onboard graphics ever since. A lot of mid tier graphics games recently came out that I want to play and this is the best deal I've seen in a couple of months, but between the shipping date, lack of upgradeability, and now losing the ability to combine the 5GRADHP code with my .edu discount I honestly have no idea if it makes sense to buy this :/

What is everyone's thoughts about purchasing the desktop with the intention on mining?
A year ago mining income was good but now it's low. Cryptos have crashed hard the past 6 months especially the past month. Your mining income would be less than $1 per day. Nicehash profitability calculator for GTX 1660 Super shows right now only 65 cents per day income. A year ago it was $2 per day and a month ago it was $1 per day.

FYI - Trying to cancel my order and HP is giving me the runaround saying they can't and it's in process even though expected ship date is mid to end of June. May have to call credit card company if HP continues its BS

I was able to cancel since the systems I ordered were still far off from being built. Took 2 days to get a confirmation of cancellation from HP.

Prior to cancel conformation I got their generic response below:

We have received your request and are sorry to hear you decided to cancel your custom order.

As the sourcing and flow of built-to-order systems begins promptly, there is a limited window in which to stop an order. Therefore, additional steps are needed in order to work with our factory team to attempt to cancel.

We will be in touch with you via email as soon as possible with an updated status on your cancellation request.

If your order cannot be cancelled, you will receive a shipment notification email with the delivery tracking number.

Anyone that has received their desktop, could you run crystal diskmark and post the SSD speeds? I have the TG01 and even with a aftermarket SSD the speed is 1787 MB/s read and 1687 MB/s write. The aftermarket ssd is rated at 3500 read and 2500 write. This means the TG01 (black case previous slickdeal) is limited to PCIEx2 m.2 NVME speeds.
