My experience with the i3 version was on the 4GB version. My recollection of the 4gig version was that it was not as snappy when loading websites with multiple images (like blogs or even SD). I never found the i3-8GB version on sale.
Not a lot of potential ChromeOS users would need such a powerful Chromebook. And at $400 there are plenty of solid Windows laptops (with basically similar specs) which would have a great service life and user experience.
However, if you have been looking for the latest thing in premium Chromebooks something like this quad-core Intel i-series CPU model would likely represent a solid entry barring the arrival of the next AMD-equipped models sometime in the "future".
Good luck!

There are some Chromebooks which advanced users have worked to make bootable into other operating systems. My first generation Galaxy Chromebook would be a solid Windows device if I cared to jump through the myriad of hoops which would enable me to boot into a Windows with incomplete driver support (potentially losing me features like audio support and/or keyboard backlight functionality).
I look forward to a future where a Windows sandbox is as trivial to operate as the Linux sandbox. In the meantime, the closest configuration that would allow a single system to live in both ChromeOS and Windows worlds is likely via ChromeOS Flex (though that puts a lot more restrictions on the ChromeOS environment for now).
Good luck!

I've been surprised how versatile a Chromebook is . I also have an Intel Whitebook (LAPQC71A) for gaming. A Dell Lattitude for work - which sits at work due to its weight and lack of battery life.... Chromebook replaced it.
Just know what you need, how you interact with technology, and your price point.

Excellent for ChromeOS at this price point and specs. I have two Lenovo Duet and can say the processor and 4GB RAM is definitely limiting and sluggish at times.
