The ice maker in my Samsung has been replaced a few times already and it will still freeze over. Won't be getting Samsung appliances, TVs and phones yes.

I have a 10-year old Samsung electric dryer. In the first 3 years, I replaced the heating element twice (heating element wire broken). The third heating element lasted for 7 years already. Can't really blame Samsung. That part is made in USA and is used in many other popular brands. OEM manufacturer only had to make it a little more studier. By the way, I use the Ultra Low temperature setting. I guess some people junked their dryer just for a broken heating element wire. Terrible environmental waste. The OEM manufacturer is terrible.
My Samsung washer is over 10 years old too. Has seen lots of uses. 2 years ago, the relay ($1 part + shipping) for the pump went out on the control board. I replaced it after removing waterproofing gel on the board with some soldering afterwards. Not a tough job. Many users would have junked the washer that was perfectly fine otherwise. The relay was rated for 100k cycles. I did a rough calculation, 100k leaves not much to spare because each load needs many cycles for the relay. It was environmentally irresponsible not to use a much higher rating relay at pennies more cost. That ruins their sales of new units. I know. Samsung also did a terrible job in design and workmanship for the detergent/bleach drawer. It leaked water and corroded internal parts. I had to use lots of glue to seal it.
I think I am lucky because I can find causes and able to do easy fixes. I hope my information help you.
yep, mine are front loaders... cannot have top loaders since there is no space in the apartment.
Yeah that's really the only benefit to them. I have a couple maytag stacking units in some rental properties i have that have worked well but would always go with a top load if given the option.
Is Samsung really that bad? I was planning to get all Samsung for a house
While you own't find many appliances that look better, they have a reputation for being poorly made and have short life spans. Might want to call your local appliance repair guy and ask if they work on Samsung...some won't touch em.
I repaired my samsung fridge by REDESIGNING part of the defrost mechanism in order to make it work. Yes, I really had to do that to continue to use my then-newish sammy fridge. That is CRAZY
