easy, do a search for 'surge protector' - optionally include the word 'anker' - and open any well-commented thread. issues boil down to listings including a 'joules' rating but not being able to further expamd on claims - most often by saying nothing about *clamping* voltage. furthermore they will never include images of the back of the product that would allow you to get some detail on the specs and any claimed certifications.

lastly, often in the case of anker, claimed certifications might apply only to some component, like the cable, not to the whole unit.
one of the reviewer on amazon posted a picture of their wall socket exploded, thats scary.
"last time, there was a lot of back and fourth, causing less clicks to purchase this paid sponsored post. This time I want to try to keep it simple so you can simply click and buy this fake china spam"

yes, there are guidelines where we do our best that the merchant is reliable and the products you will receive is what is shown on the product page. but, I nor anyone else can guarantee that the product we post a sale for will adhere or do whatever the product is supposed to do, from toilet paper not ripping apart during a wipe, to something like this...
Ok I'm going to let go, you or someone responsible should really make us believe some of this is true. But the obvious inference is that you guys are focused on revenue maximization. You guys have been getting pretty "medieval" with thread deletion for vendor deletion etc. And for your own posts, something like UL/ETL certification seems like a basic safety requirement. If you can establish the certification status clearly, you should consider that a pretty important thing. This is a real safety issue. Kind of like selling uncertified child seats. And this is not some automated posting feed. A post by SD staff. Fair to expect some higher standard.

While I agree that SD will favor their shill post and revenue generation, I don't agree that SD has the "obligation" to review our research products and only post after....

Amazon, the vendor, our government and your own judgement should come in before..... SD should be a platform for it a deal is good or not.

Might be true in general, but C'mon UL/ETL listing if known is a super-low hanging fruit. Even on Craiglist you can't post some things. And talking of Amazon etc, SD bans Amazon listings (often what seems capriciously), other reputable sites and of course any other useful links that 'leak commissions', and expends lots of effort enforcing them. In this case, I was just calling out a senior SD staffer's posting. Enforcing this for community posts is a different level. It seems fair to expect a marginally higher standard for their own posts and inducements to buy, given their maturity as buyers/users. I have started paying serious attention to electrical safety given that it can burn down a house (interestingly one of my friends house actually did last year! I don't know exact cause).
This just seemed like an egregious situation worth calling out.

Does this product have automatic shutoff and a lifetime warranty?

Those are basically must haves for any surge protector.

I'd rather spend an extra $5 and get those features from TrippLite

I don't mind these posts. UL certification is a bureaucratic nightmare thoroughly impractical for most products. Best case read reviews and make judgement. If you prefer "better" vendors go for it,most "lifetime" warranties are worthless.

Can someone post a link to a more reputable UL-listed equivalent that they would feel safe leaving plugged into a wall?

Belkin work for surges and are genuine UL Listed. I was looking at mine yesterday. They all have the hologram sticker.

Even their cheapest single SP works great for surges! I know firsthand. See my review:

Cancelled after reading reviews. Not worth saving a few bucks to burn down my house.

Fake china Spam
Can you please go into more detail how this is fake or spam?

Also, why is China relevant when a bunch of US Consumer goods come from here, including iPhones? Do you have anything specific to say about this singular product?

I found better one and it won't burn your house. I have been using for months. Love it. And now is only $14.87 before tax

None of these are UL tested.Frown If you're going to be 'stacking' on an outlet, I suggest you get a power strip that's been tested/certified as safe. And yes, they make plenty that are UL/cUL tested/certified.

Really need to pull this post before people think these are a good idea. They're not. Irresponsible at best.
