Bigger bonuses. Then once it's time to renew, you downgrade to a no annual fee card.

No matter whatever card you get from them, Cap One is wasted credit inquiries. They like to pull ALL three bureaus. Most other cards only pull one. Nothing Cap One offers is worth 3 inquires on your reports.
Cancel after one year. So effectively a $650 bonus.

I had this card until 2 days ago. Got $750 worth of points that was easy to redeem. Basically, use the card on anything travel related, like hotels, etc. After the charges are posted, you can apply the charges to the points, it will be credited to the same account for the same value as the charge.
I got the referral email saying I would get 30k for the referral so I generated the link.
When I go to the link it says the person signing up gets 75k. Is it really this good?
Do I get points if I sign up and use someone's referral?

If you get a referral link from someone and use it, you'll get the 75k points that are mentioned in this original offer and the person who's link you used will get points as well. My offer told me I'd get 25k points if someone used my link if I remember correctly.
Submitted it using the referral link. Says 75k for the new applicant and 30k for the referrer.
I just noticed is says "Earn unlimited 2 miles per dollar on every purchase".
If I'm doing the math right, that's 75k+30k signup bonus points plus 8k points for the $4k spend = 113k total points = $1,130 in travel reimbursements. Nice!

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like I don't get any extra points for using a referral. I only get 75k points for a new sign-up with or without a referral.

That's right, you still get the 75 k points and whoever's referral link you used gets some extra bonus points.
Just got my Venture X card. If I buy a ticket for a family member via Cap1 travel portal, it will automatically apply $300 statement credit? Or do I have to request it manually?

Should be applied automatically.
I booked a hotel for $200 or something last month and canceled and rebooked to another date with same price, they applied the full $300 credit 2 weeks later.

You don't get anything. However, you don't lose anything either. But for the person who referred you get 25k points.
So, I would recommend using the referral link to open a new account. Also, someone will surely return you a favor.

Can you use it if you book on Expedia?
I am sure you can. I booked a hotel through Agoda and I see it can be covered with points
Yes. I received an email about it too!
