Bigger bonuses. Then once it's time to renew, you downgrade to a no annual fee card.

No matter whatever card you get from them, Cap One is wasted credit inquiries. They like to pull ALL three bureaus. Most other cards only pull one. Nothing Cap One offers is worth 3 inquires on your reports.
Cancel after one year. So effectively a $650 bonus.
Show me a no annual fee card with a ~$650 bonus... I'll wait.

Since the person being referred to doesn't get anything extra, should we not use a referral link to maximize the chance of getting accepted? (aside from asking the referrer to give you something)

Not sure it would work that way. They might be more inclined to accept you since you're coming from an existing customer. It's probably overthinking it either way... just decide if you want to throw someone some referral points or not.

The regular Venture does not come with Priority Pass.... which honestly my experience with Priority Pass has been mixed too. Some lounges are overfilled and not allowing Priority Pass members. Or maybe they are, but you've got to wait awhile whereas other members walk right in. I waited over an hour in Vegas for entrance. First world problems for sure. But just telling you the real experience. It's not like having Admiral's Club or Centurion access, for example.
Though Centurion no longer allows you to enter with a guest. Yeah, first world problems for sure Wave

Per Dave Ramsey, credit cards cause you to spend more and keep you poor. I'd avoid as Dave Ramsey is an expert and multi millionaire

A lot of people are getting denied, and Capital One is known to be awfully restrictive especially when it comes to their promotions.

I was able to get the Venture on my second try, and my credit score is above 100. I think what helped me was that I had recently opened up their Capital One Savings account, and they had a better perspective of the cash I had on hand.

Any tool (financial or otherwise) is a double-edged sword. Everything depends on the skill of the wielder.

If you choose to blindly accept the advice of experts, then you likely lack the requisite skill.

You can definitely get some good deals transferring domestically as well but as you stated international travel you can get insane value.

Aeroplan is a good partner to look into. I recently booked a United flight round trip from PIT to ORD for 6500 points, that's around a $250 ticket. In regards to international travel, also with Aeroplan booked a one way business class ticket JFK to BKK for 87500 points, the ticket cost $8899 before fees if I bought it outright.

It's just silly what you can get points wise on award flights if you fly abroad and catch the postings at the right time.

Just curious is there a catch all website that one would type an itinerary to see transfer partner deals and ratios? I've looked previously but always ended up with dead end.

Was this a targeted offer? The default site still shows 75k. I just opened my card up two weeks ago for 75k Frown
