All DeWalt battery operated tools are Max.

The Atomic is Max. The XR is Max. They're all Max.

Max* simply refers to them using the fully charged voltage (20v) as opposed to the operating voltage (18v) that other tool companies use.

Somewhere in the fine print it says:
* Maximum initial battery voltage (measured without a workload) is 20 volts. Nominal voltage is 18.
These are the absolutely lowest capacity battery you can get
if you have two batteries, and keep one charging while using the rest, you can probably get through most home projects without a lot of stress or anger

I'm on Team Red but, I love the smaller capacity batteries for light demand tools. I use them in lights, drills, impact driver (small jobs), and the 3/8 impact. I actually bought a broken used drill for $20 just to get a pair of the little guys. Don't regret it at all.

Is that 1/4" going to be enough for home projects? Do I need special bits or can I use driver bits? Thank you

1/4" is most common. You'll be fine with standard bits.

Neither of these. You need a hammer drill for drilling in concrete.

oic.

Actually, now that i think about it, it's plastered cinder block walls.

What about for the furniture?

From the previous answer I'm guessing the drill.

Hammer drill for anything stone, brick, masonry, concrete related, just turn off the hammer function for furniture.

Like others have mentioned the battery is tiny, while building some shelving in the garage we had to charge one while using one and throughout the whole day. For smaller projects it's perfect though.

Those are 12 volt tools. Most of dewalts stuff is based around the 20 volt battery system.

Those would be great to hang a picture in your dining room... these others are much more robust.

Atomic is also available at the same price: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWAL...kVOqVcG1E0

I'm a new homeowner. No serious drilling. Basic DIYs around the house from what I can imagine. Which one does the knowledgeable folks here suggest? Thanks Smilie
