About the bike: The Echelon "Sport-S" model was designed to be exclusive to Sam's Club, and was very well reviewed as a great bargain alternative to Peloton, due to it's $700 price. Now it's less than half that... The bike itself is a mash-up of two other Echelon models. It uses the frame and driveline of the EX-15, combined with the better handlebar and 10" screen from the EX-5S.
Notably the flywheel is enclosed within the casing to protect it from sweat or kids/pets, and that helps it to be very quiet as well. I've been on the fence about adding an exercise bike, but this was a quality bike cheap enough to make it a no-brainer. The bike has very strong reviews, and the only reviews knocking it on Sam's Club are complaining about the 30-day membership, because they used to give a longer free trial.
Note: this is YMMV due to limited availability. (Exercise bikes are a seaonsal item during the winter, so they're clearing them out now.) On the Sam's Club app or website, once on the product page for this bike, the price will change with each club. Keep selecting clubs until you find one that's $299. (Around me, two of the clubs had them for $299, one had it for $399, and two were $699.) If you find it for $299, you can order for store pickup. As far as I can tell, you cannot get it delivered for this price - if you choose delivery the price changes to $699. (I just picked one up from Fishkill, NY - they currently have it in stock.)
Regarding memberships: The bike comes with a 30-day free membership to Echelon's Peloton-like streaming service. After that it's stupid expensive, just like all bike memberships. However, you can fully use the bike and the screen in "freestyle mode" for free, and then just use free YouTube spin classes or scenic rides for free. That's my plan.
