That's a crazy good deal on the generator, but I'll tell you, for this size and the fuel consumption, I would highly recommend a duel fuel. I can easily store enough propane to run this for 2 weeks, but would be hard pressed to store that much in gas.

I hear you, but the dual feul version - WGen12000DF - costs about double this deal.

Oh, I know, I have the DF. The only reason I bring it up is that I'd hate for someone to purchase this thinking it can run nearly their entire house, which is true for most moderate sized houses, only to realize when it comes to an emergency situation that for most people it's going to be challenging to have more than 2-3 days of gas on hand when we are talking almost a gallon an hour. I mean, storing 75 gallons of gas (and remembering to rotate it so you always have fresh gas on hand) is going to be a challenge for most urban homes.

I was without power for a day over the weekend and I have a little 2000W that I could run my refrigerator and furnace, but I have a small refrigerator.

Some appliances won't run if you have an open ground. You can make one for $4. -- Neutral-Ground Bonding Plug

You basically just take a plug and run a wire from the neutral (silver screw) to the ground.

unfortunately the devil is in the details, that gen set is 12% or less THD rated while this one is 5% or less. Its not recommended for electronics, which would include sensitive HVAC electronics like control boards. Battery backups like APC UPS devices will likely refuse power from that unit.

If you have a lot of electronics id be careful. I wont compromise when it comes to whole home backup power.

Have you seen a good whole house propane inverter generator deal lately? The deals I see are always on gas or inverter generators that I'd need two of.
