Yeah I have them ,they're indeed ehhh. Not bad, but not great either.
I thought the same thing, I have the Chinese ones from Amazon Tozo T6 for $30 and ordered these and returned them immediately after testing, they don't compare to the Tozos, the JBL are bulkier, sound way worse, uncomfortable and you cannot change volume on them.

I have the JBL Live 300TWS that I bought one pair for $38 and after being very impressed with them I then soon bought another pair at $33 on woot. They sound great and fit so comfortably. I love the fit and comfort. Rtings says these earbuds sound better than the JBL Live 300TWS. The JBL Live 300TWS aren't that far off from my Samsung Galaxy Buds+. I am kind of tempted to buy these but I have so many earbuds right now. One of Samsung Galaxy Buds+ right earbud is discharging much quicker than the left so maybe I will buy this JBL. I have a lot of JBL products and I have been very happy with their products so I am confident that I will like this as well. JBL puts out very good audio products whether it be the bluetooth speakers or headphones. Very good bang for the buck.
Too bad that the noise isolation is subpar but it isn't a very high priority for me. It matters but the noise isolation score isn't that far off from the other JBL and my Samsung earbud. The pros outweighs its cons. I happily wear my Samsung Galaxy Buds+ and JBL Live 300TWS in the gym and it does a solid job with noise isolation and they don't have noise cancellation.

when it comes to reviews, i look at recent reviews, and 3 and 4 stars. Thats where you get the most balanced perspective. The 150 price tag is what i judge it based on.

If you pay $40, I think you should judge in the $40 price range earbuds where the product would clearly outshine against the competitors. What $40 earbuds are performing better and outperforming a 7.6 neutral sound? You won't be able to name one earbud that has a better neutral sound. You would have to go back to the BTS BOGO Samsung Galaxy Buds+ deal which was an insane deal and that was like $42.50 each. For example, if I buy a $800 phone for only $200 sale (75% discount), the phone is FAR SUPERIOR to the $200 range budget phones. It becomes a steal awesome deal and worthy purchase. This is where phones like the Moto Z2 Force ($99 deal) really shined where it had amoled, high quality 800s processor, moto mod capability, etc. and was under $100 but didn't compare to its full msrp vs competitors like Samsung expensive flagship at the same time as Motorola's camera was its weakness at msrp. I wouldn't compare the Metro iphone 11 deal (around $160 sale) to its $500 iPhone 11 msrp. I can buy better phones at $500 today so I wouldn't consider an iPhone 11 at that $500 msrp price but I can't buy many good phones at $160. I would compare iphone 11 to phones under $200 nowadays because I would pay like $160. Expectations are raised with the more I spend and expectations should be somewhat forgiven if one gets a great deal and pays cheap.
