Unless you have long stretches of hilly yard, you don't need self propelled. These mowers feel a lot lighter than gas. Self propelled eats 1/3 of the battery.

We have a 40 V Kobalt, Greenworks makes it for Lowes, very good lawn-mower.
80 volts is the way to go for larger yards, just be sure the batteries are cool before charging. Storage in a foam, cheap cooler, storage heat is very bad on these batteries.

I disagree. You wouldn't want the 4 Ah battery in a leaf blower maybe, but the 2 Ah ones in the current 80V Greenworks leafblower (the one that was at costco with the turbo button) is fantastic and really well balanced. I upgraded from the Dewalt 20V one and was worried about it feeling too bulky coming from such a light duty one but its fantastic.

I have this mower (the one linked, non-self propelled) and have been pretty pleased with it. My one complaint is the casing is a bit wider (same blade size, but more empty space on the edge) than my last mower so getting close to the house and some tighter spots around trees is slightly more cumbersome but I need to use a trimmer either way so its kinda moot... just oddly annoying. 1/3 acre takes a full 4 Ah charge. I bought it from Amazon when it was on the killer $238 deal in February so it has been considerably cheaper just so people are aware...
Decent deal if you need it now, Greenworks seems to steadily be running 20-25% off deals but since its the brand that everyone carries (Amazon, Costco, etc.) you'll likely find some better values through those merchants if you can get it at a good time or stack some other discounts. For instance, I did the blower on the costco instacart deal a bit ago and got it for a steal. So if you can wait or are still deciding on the best ecosystem, another Greenworks deal will roll around so don't feel like your missing out.

We both have 80v machines. I used lawnchick to measure the properties.

I have 5100 sq ft of actual grass, on a flat property. My push mower is usually set to two inches. In April (fastest growing month), I can get through all of the grass in maybe 20 mins with 1.2 full charges of the 2Ah battery. I bag my clippings. I mow weekly. During the summer, I can do both yards on one charge and set height to three inches. It will take 1.5 charges if I mulch clippings (only when theres no weeds).

My parents have 22000 sq ft of actual grass on a 3% grade property (on the front yard). They have a self-propel which can do the whole yard on one 6Ah battery in just under one hour. Battery probably has 10% left at the end. Always set at three inches, also mowed weekly.

They previously had a 40v and a 20v. The 40v wasnt bad power-wise, but the batteries became too hard to source. The 20v was a joke, partially because the batteries needed charging up so often and with such a large lot, had to be spread out over two days.

Take some time for bagging clippings in the comparison. With the exception of leaving a few clippings during bagging if the grass is REALLY long, I have zero issues with my 80v push mower. It is my favorite electrified tool (tied with my toothbrush, lol.)

Jump on it. Its great. I doubt theres much youll be able to share these batteties with since there massive. Like you don't want an 80 V battery for your leaf blower
I believe these 80v batteries work with the Kobalt but need a little trimming on the slide

This is a great deal. I got the 40v w/ one battery two years ago from Costco for $350. Definitely recommend 60v or higher. I'd jump on this if I was looking for a mower.

They are not lighter. The self propelled version with two 80v 4ah batteries on it is pretty heavy.
Yes, sorry, was talking about non propelled being lighter.

We switched from gas self propelled, the gas thing weighing about as much as a Russian tank, about as maneuverable, it was awful, the 40 v non self propelled is light, faster to walk behind. It's much easier to cut around flower beds, trees.

Ah, not sure you have two 80 v batteries? Maybe 2 40 voltage? And yes an 80 voltage battery pack is huge, heavy. I think the EGO has a single 80 voltage, neighbor has it. As I recall $$$$?

Why don't people actually post their lawn size? Large and small is so relative no one knows what it's rated for

Put square footage or metric if you are actually serious about mowers and electric otherwise people won't have enough information to make a decision

It says runtime is one hour and does 1 acre; i doubt you can walk a whole square acre in 1 hour
Scroll up to my post, first page I think, a link to toolboxbuzz. They list miles walked, footage cut. I can't recall if they have this model listed, but it will give you an idea of brand performance.

I bought this earlier this year with only one 4AH battery. It's enough to cover my 3400 sq ft lawn on a normal cut, but I only got a little over halfway through my first cut of the year since I let it grow too long.
No self-propelled is fine, this is substantially lighter than a gas mower, especially if your grade isn't bad.

I'm needing to pick up a lawn mower, trimmer, leaf blower (possibly even leaf vacuum/mulcher), but am unsure what ecosystem to get into. Would be nice to share batteries between multiple devices. If anyone has input or info as to which direction they suggest and why it would be appreciated. Should I jump on this Greenworks sale? I've heard good things about Greenworks, but possibly more good things about EGO, Toro, sometimes Ryobi.
See Pro Tool Reviews website and YouTube reviews of dozens and dozens and dozens of mowers, especially their comparison articles going thru acres of grass to suss out what's good and not.

I wouldn't put too much effort into a single battery for the garden tools vs home construction tools because the former really love big, heavy, high voltage batteries whereas that's overkill to drop in a 40/80v battery into a hand tool.

I'd buy based on other factors like how well does it cut, does it get bogged down in heavy grass thus requiring multiple passes, charge speed, and....cost of replacement batteries + battery reliability (which you can see at Home Depot etc reviews on batteries).

Don't be surprised if every 5+ years the battery dies and you spend as much as a new mower on batteries....

Amazon has, "Greenworks Pro 80V 21" Brushless Cordless Lawn Mower, 4.0Ah Battery and 60 Minute Rapid Charger Included".

Would it be better to go with the single, larger battery, or this deal with two, smaller batteries?

I believe these two smaller batteries essentially allow you to run continuously by having one charge while the other is being used. Plus I think you can install both at the same time and it'll draw from one then switch to the other. Something like that.

If this were a 60v, I'd jump on it just so I didn't have to lug mine from the backyard to the front yard uphill… self propelled doesn't help me here.
