This is a pretty good bonus mid year. If I remember correctly they may, MAY, have a better bonus near end of year but can't bank on that.

Also remember if you spend your 5k you will be at 80k points vs just the bonus of 75k points

Business cards are earning 60k and 80k bonus points if you are willing to try that route for companion pass

Doesn't CP start during the year you qualify + 1 year after?

So, you'd want to get CP at the beginning of the year right?

Correct , if possible ,that's the best scenario. They have made it more difficult by raising total points to 125k for companion and have made it harder to get the business card( from what I've read) to combine the two bonus points and earn the pass

Depending on which card you apply for, annual fee is $69, $99, or $149 per year

Np
$69
$99
& $149 fees .

The $149 card you get $75 southwest credit, (4) upgraded boardings

I usually get the $149

I use my upgraded boardings and there are security fees when u book with points . We go out of country so they are a little higher than domestic. the $75 credit covers those and makes the fee a wash. And you get 7,500 points on your card anniversary

Thanks and repped. So basically, if you fly Southwest at least once a year, that $75 credit means you really only pay $75 annually for the card. 4x upgrades per year are worth $30 each ($120 total value).

What does "1,500 tier qualifying points towards A-List status for every $10,000 spent" mean on the $149 priority card? Kinda confused there.

So expensive from New England. Not worth it unless they get more planes and crew. I've had points and gift cards sitting idle for years…finally used them to go round trip San Jose to HI. But flew United from BOS to San Jose. So I know they have good deals elsewhere…

Just saying, if from New England best to go with a different airline point system in my opinion.

If you make a list by earning a list points (35,000) you get more perks

Thanks again. So if my math is right, if you spend $233,334 in a year, you can get A-List status with the Priority card

Points can be earned from (a) qualifying flights booked and flown through Southwest or (b) through qualifying purchases with our Rapid Rewards partners. Qualifying flights include flights paid entirely with dollars, Southwest LUV Vouchers, gift cards or flight credits, and with no portion of the purchase price paid for with Rapid Rewards points.

The other trick is to get hotel rooms with Buy More, Earn more through Southwest hotels. This works in Vegas and other big cities. You can earn 1000s of points per night, basically by buying them for about 1.6 cents per point…nearly at cost. I've done two weekend trips this year and got about an extra 30000 points… costing me less than $500 extra on the hotel cost.

So if you're a diligent Vegas traveler, you could have your CP in a few trips.
