Looks like the ice cream maker is on clearance too. Good price.

When grinding meat, it's a good idea to put the grinder in the freezer to help prevent it from heating up. This will help keep the fat from turning into a gooey mess instead of staying as solid chunks. The texture of your sausage would be much better this way.

Don't know if they redesigned it... but ice cream maker I got a couple of years ago developed a leak and had to be tossed.

Is this one worth the price increase over the refurbished non-metal meat grinder on the kitchenaid website? The total for the metal one is $40 and the one on kitchenaid is about $20 after 15% off coupon. I only occasionally grind meat and don't really make any sausages.

There's a new version of it that seems to have better reviews.

Plastic one was awful. I'll give this one a try. It was about this price when I got it.

Personally, I'd spend the extra money on the metal one. It will hold up better long term. I can't speak to how well the Plastic performs but the metal one works great. Very easy to clean too. I'd recommend hand washing though as the dishwasher and detergent will oxidize the metal. As for the plastic, check out the reviews. It seems it will eventually crack.
