EDP will generally have a longer-lasting scent than EDT, but it will greatly vary from fragrance to fragrance. Cologne/Aftershave/Eau Fraiche/EDC (Eau De Cologne) is typically the lowest percentage of fragrance (~2%).. EDT (Toilette) is next (~5-10%), EDP (Eau De Parfum) has more (~10-15%), Parfum has more than that (20%)and Extrait has more than that (25%+)
Each fragrance will behave differently though.. some EDC's will last longer than Parfums. I've found that the weaker ones tend to smell quite strong at first but then disappear quicker while the others tend to hang around all day but just not as strong. I suggest checking the ratings on fragrantica.com for any specifics in terms of how long a fragrance lasts. For example, Sauvage EDT seems the "strongest", followed by the EDP (which isn't as strong but lasts quite long), followed by the Parfum which seems incredibly weak for some reason.. and lastly the Sauvage Elixir which is very intense and lasts all day! A lot of other brands are starting to use these words on their fragrances (like "Eau De Toilette Intense" or "Elixir" which don't really mean much)
Regarding Costco/Fragrances...
With that said - Costco is excellent on fragrances! I've bought about 10 orders from them, have had 2 or 3 come damaged (leaking, shattered, etc..) and the others fine. They're very easy to handle replacement orders online though.
A couple alternative sites..
I do suggest checking SaksOff5th.com and NordstromRack.com first though, as they have quite a few of the same fragrances, often in larger sizes or gift sets for less than Costco. For example: Valentino Uomo was $69 on Saks for a 5 oz, versus $79 at costco for a 3.4 oz. Lastly, ones like FragranceX, FragranceNet, etc.. which look shady as hell... often have amazing deals and are (surprisingly) legit!
Costco also lets you return the fragrances if you just decide it's not for you, while the others tend to not let you.
Regarding a few suggestions..
A lot of people like Creed Aventus (and Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man is a knockoff of that for about 1/10 the price). Costco doesn't carry the Armaf, but they do have the Montblanc Explorer which is an "Inspired by..." for Aventus. People seem to love this, but I could never get into it. Armaf's "Sillage" (Creed Silver Mountain Water) clone is great though, and their "Milestone" (Creed Milessime Imperial) clone are decent. If you like Parfums De Marly, Armaf's Craze is another nice one to check out.
For the costco sale:
I picked up Valentino Uomo from the Saks sale, but even at $79 at costco it's a very nice fragrance. Nothing like Uomo Born In Roma, I was surprised with how nice plain Uomo is. I'd probably suggest dropping another $30 and grabbing Uomo Intense though. Great fragrance comparable to Dior Homme Intense/Parfum.
The Maison Margiela fragrances are "different", I like the unique scents but find these don't last long at all.
D&G "The One" is an amazing scent, and at $50 for a 5 oz. it's hard to pass on.. but the EDT is very weak and the EDP (not available at costco) is only slightly better. But it's a great choice.
Many of the others can be had for cheaper elsewhere (like the Tom Ford's), which make it a tougher sale.
I do suggest refreshing the costco page as they do get some very good fragrances from time to time. They've had the Atelier Cologne's at 50% off (they were recently discontinued and costco gets different ones in), Maison Francis Kurkdjian (BR540 and BR540 Extrait) and other popular ones like Spicebomb (in a 5 oz) for a great price!
