Edit: never mind, terms state that rewards spent don't earn rewards

How often does Office Depot run this promo?
Since the rewards expire in 60 days, there's the potential for a sweet infinite-free-battery loop as long as the promo comes around often enough.

Has anyone been on this train a long time, or would we be forced to dump the rewards into something else occasionally?

By household items like dish soap, paper towels or printer paper or ink they price match amazon and Walmart or target or get rewards stacks up and buy electronic items from them. Has 1 or 2 Duracell battery rewards in month.

Do you earn rewards if paying with rewards?
If so, if I buy an item with 100% rewards while using rewards, what amount do i get back? The full price of the item? Or minus the rewards I use?

Thanks for the tip, if there was a local store I'd go for it

Nope, but I'm sure you get rewards for whatever you paid after subtracting rewards

If you paid with an Office Depot OfficeMax rewards certificate, you will be refunded by check within 3-4 weeks.

Does this mean I can return something bought using rewards for a cash check mailed to my address?

I feel like Costco/Sam's is a better deal. I can get 40 AA for $16. Office Depot is $32 for 24 AA. Yeah you get 100% back in rewards but you still spent $32.

Wow they really jacked up the prices. I'm assuming buying this and paying with an office depot gift card (not rewards) qualifies as qualified spending (for ink recycling) right?

In store and online are often different... I usually have them match Amazon prices, which is usually cheaper than using their 20% off coupon.

Not a better deal if you shop wisely.

I often use rewards to buy stamps, which are the forever type and immunize against USPS price hikes. This way, you can look at the batteries (or the stamps) as being "free" and there are no rebates to submit.

Other times I buy items that are legitimately a real deal. Pre-COVID, I bought a very nice Canon $500 color laser printer for $203 and used my rewards. Since then, the prices have risen.

BTW, I have a Costco subscription. When I walk past the battery section there, I restrain myself from telling buyers about the Office Depot deal.

Couple the battery deals and the ink cartridge redemption program. Very easy to capitalize on.

Retail prices are the same but online purchases can use a coupon. Instore buys are not supposed to allow a coupon but I've occasionally found an accommodating sales associate or manager.

Be aware that using a coupon reduces both your net cost as well as the rewards earned (still 100%, just on a lower basis). I use the coupon to minimize my investment.

It should.

Another smart approach when the timing of both programs allow it is to buy the batteries at the same time as you redeem ink cartridges. The batteries count as a qualified purchase. This allows you to gain a net positive position.

Unfortunately the ink redemption for June was last week but keep checking. I have done this a bunch of times. Before the price hike, I'd earn $53 in rewards for a $33 battery purchase. Nearly enough to buy a 100 roll of forever stamps.
