Buy 2 get 1 free on select Philips hue products.. I've been waiting for the BR30 color bulbs to come back in stock and 6 bulbs for $199 is a solid deal imo.

Mate, it's a night and day difference between setting up Kasa and the Hue stuff. Maybe you don't mind the "flip the light switch on and off 8 times while counting to 13" dance you have to do when setting up each bulb, heaven forbid there's something that messes up the wifi and you have to resync them all, but for a lot of people that's a big pain in the ass.

I've got a few different products from cheaper brands and the one word that can describe them all is: clunky

You know what the setup was for the Hue stuff? Literally just plugged the hub into my switch and downloaded the app. Everything else was configured out of the box. Was great. I haven't had to resync them ever... but those cheap Kasa and noname bulbs need resyncing every 6 months or so.

There also is overhead for most routers having to deal with active wifi connections. Consumer routers cap out at a surprisingly low number of clients. Yes, even "high end" ones. The frequency of the connection has little to do with it. If you only have a couple of bulbs it's nbd, but if you're swapping your house over, have smart speakers in every room, have a few people with phones, smart TVs, etc you will quickly hit these limits.
You'd prefer to have that overhead on your wireless router? You must not have many lights. Try pairing headphones when your lights are all BT as well, worse than doing it on the airplane.
Huh? They are included in the sale. They are the first item listed under "Bulbs" on the sale page, the 1600 lumen 100w equivalent.

just cant get on board with philips using a bridge. this day and age that's just a money grab.

Honestly it feels more like you're finding something to complain about. Because the hub is part of the reason the Hue bulbs work as well as they do.

You are right. I'm complaining about needing to buy an extra 60 dollar item to use with already the most expensive bulbs on the market when other companies charge half the price for the same thing and no hubs. I have all kinds of kasa and seng led bulbs all over my house and they work perfectly. Doesn't require me to buy into an ecosystem. No bs hubs.

Mechanical powered (button press) smart switches that let you just place them on the wall w/o batteries or wiring.

I guess that's just not the experience I have. My entire house is smart devices from my oven. To my lights. Vacuum. Tv. Speakers. 3 computers. Laptops. Phones. A tablet. Helium miner. Gaming systems. Just about everything that can be smart or on wifi is. I don't ever have any issues so I guess maybe I just got lucky? Now did I go through and optimize the router and do some backend work sure. will most do that probably not but still.

Sadly no 100w bulbs. The 60w equivalents just don't produce enough light for my wife's liking.
Hard to believe the white ambiance bulbs are $45 each.

I setup 1 for my mom with a bridge and it looses sync every time the electricity goes out. Unfortunately she is 4 hours away so she has to wait until I visit before she can start using it via wifi again.

Side note, just picked up the RunLessWire switch and really like it. It replaces the tap I think cause I can't find that anywhere but ebay. The RLW is fairly responsive, if you click them too fast sometimes it won't send the command but having 4 buttons is nice. We have it set up to handle 2 rooms on/off and works great so far.

When does the discount show up?
I added one PAR38 pack and two 1600L E26 bulbs and nothing is showing as discounted.

*EDIT* apparently the 1600L white bulbs are not part of the sale.

I have to agree. The 60W and even 75W bulbs are not as bright as one would expect. The 60W is even dimmer than my Sylvania Lightify 60W bulbs that I bought years and years ago when the smart home craze first became more mainstream.

Even though the bulbs aren't as bright as the competition, I'm eyeing the 100W bulbs myself now because the Hue system is that much better and more polished. Things just work together seamlessly and I'm thankfully able to afford the expensive Hue price tag.
