I have used this product for my other outdoor furniture, a sealer primarily made for boats will be extremely OK for outdoor furniture. You can check out their storefront introduction.

2 coats will consume around 10-16 oz, then you will need to apply once or twice a year afterwards.
there are several products in the minwax helmsman range, some water-based, some not. is water-based ok? are any of those ok?

I had no experience on the product that you have mentioned, but I usually use boat products outdoors, just think about how those boats handle extreme weather conditions like big storm, salt water, extreme sun exposure, cold wind, etc.
