Some enjoy quality over convenience. There's a reason your 4k Netflix stream is 14Mbps and the same media from a UHD disc streams at 40-100Mbps.

Other than being able to play pass Dolby Vision are tgere any otger big benefits? My current 4K player can support an external drive with movie files on it. I assume this can do that too?

I do have this player and it is awesome. Only problem is it doesnt get any new apps like Hulu, Disney etc. Player is little slow but great picture quality.
