After owning 2 different Vizio atmos sound bar which includes the Vizio elevate, I would not get another Visio sound bar again. There was too much issue ranging from not connecting to the tv to no sound. The Visio warranty is good and the customer service is great. I had them replaced my elevate with a brand new one. I end up selling it on eBay at a lost.

Just don't do it. Been through several Vizio soundbars, a couple of which were reported to have had their firmware issues resolved. All have the same issues that require constant reboots.

I have a smart plug dedicated for my current 5.1.4 soundbar with the rear upfiring and use Alexa with a custom command that reboots power to the sound bar with a 1 minute wait. This morning, I had to have Alexa reboot the unit 3 times until it finally started playing sound out of the actual soundbar (and not the TV or no sound from either).

I've tried everything including loading the latest firmware from Vizio via USB. It's just garbage eARC implementation as confirmed by the fact that I never have these issues on my Sonos set on same TV.

When it works, it sounds great for my smaller space. But I can't recommend it if you value your time and money

Currently dealing with failed firmware update on 5.1 version of this (M51A-H6). Want something louder than a Roku Streambar but am leary of Vizio after bad experiences with their TV's and now soundbars.

Bought at this price several months ago and have been pretty happy.

Had a pretty old 5.1 system from them that had all sorts of connection issues with the wireless sub and rears. The last straw was when it just wouldn't cooperate with a new TV.

This new one sounds great. Only issue is that twice the sub and rears just didn't turn on but once they're on, they're not constantly going out like my old one.

Lastly, the up-firing speakers add depth that you'll miss if you turn them off but they don't sound like speakers mounted in your ceiling.

I bought Vizio products for many years as a budget alternative to more expensive brands. They were never great, but now they are just bad.

The M51A-H6 is the CostCo model that is littered with issues (power failures, etc.) and that no one should ever buy -- just look around on Reddit, etc.

Meanwhile, this model is solid. I already own one and it is really nice.

I think it depends on your setup / ceiling / acoustics. I agree with you that it doesn't sound like speakers are mounted in your ceiling but I do get a little bit of the effect that it is trying to imitate in Dolby Atmos movies with the volume cranked up.

Same. They sound good enough, but the constant connectivity issues (and then never connected again) made me never want to buy another Vizio speaker again, and I won't.

I just picked up an open box LG SP9YA for $320 today but I was looking for this one... Not sure what to do. Open to advice! seems like software update issues? I'm already struggling with the open box LG though so...๐Ÿคท

Have this. Wouldn't buy it again. Keeps having issues with disconnecting and connecting again at random times.

I have the version of this that has the silver sides. I'm assuming that's the one just before this modelโ€”before they started making it look and feel super cheap like this.

That being said, my model has an insane amount of connection issues, and from what I understand, that's standard with pretty much all Vizio soundbar systems. On a literal daily basis, I have to unplug it and plug it back in, plus, when I change the device plugged into the Arc, I have to go into the app and switch the input back and forth at least once for it to start registering my remote input again. Or I can turn the TV off and on, which also cycles the soundbar. If I don't do either of those things, it'll still act like it's doing what I tell it to, but the volume won't actually change, even though it shows that it's changing it. I would absolutely never get a Vizio system again. No one else should, either.

As far as that Rtings rating goes, they didn't use it long enough to start getting all of these problems.

I can 100% vouch for this. The sound/connection issues are f***ing nuts. It's crazy that Vizio is allowed to sell this junk, and they've seemingly done absolutely nothing to address the issue over the years. They deserve a lawsuit for knowingly selling defective products en mass.
